It was during undergrad that she met her husband, Bruce, and they both pursued their respective careers—while he went to law school, Kirsten attended SLP school. Her final internship was at the Baptist NICU, and she later worked for a private practice in Lexington. Kirsten and Bruce now have a two-year-old daughter, Kari, who taught her a lot about empathy for new mothers, especially through the challenges Kari faced with reflux and ties. Before opening her own practice last summer, Kirsten gained four years of experience in private practice feeding therapy. Her practice, Milk and Milestones, offers a range of services, including medically complex feeding therapy, orofacial myofunctional therapy, and infant feeding consultations. Currently, Kirsten runs the entire business solo, handling everything from marketing and scheduling to treating clients.
