Episode 186: Senator Book's Nude Photos Leaked and Sold

Lauren Book has been through a lot. As a child she was sexually abused for years by her female nanny. Lauren wrote about her experience in her book, "It's OK to Tell." Since then she has become a powerful voice in the advocacy community. Most recently, she won a seat in the Florida State Senate and is working hard to change laws. But those laws couldn't protect her from having her phone hacked and nude images stolen that were meant only for her husband's eyes. Not only were those images stolen, but the investigation revealed that they've been sold and circulated online since 2020. Lauren said that having this happen brought up so many things from her past and she would have ended her life if it hadn't been for her children. In this episode we talk about how vulnerable we all are, and what steps we can take to protect ourselves and children. Once these phots are online, they never disappear. Lauren knows this too well and is creating legislation that makes it a felony in Florida to steal someone's private photos and videos.
