Episode 187: Anna's Perspective on Being a First Time RAGBRAI Rider

Did you know a Facebook group exists just for people doing RAGBRAI for the first time? It’s called RAGBRAI Newbies and on the show today is Anna Abrams, the founder of the group, to talk about riding across Iowa for the first time. She wanted to feel more connected with other new riders and decided a Facebook group could provide a place for newbies to voice concerns, worries and questions, knowing other newbies will be facing the same thoughts. This private group, which is not directly associated with RAGBRAI, is a place where riders can ask about any question they may have about the ride, or preparing for the ride. These questions become great subjects of conversation and support that help the entire group. Group members are friendly and helpful and the community helps newbies feel connected. Anna even hosted a Newbies meet-up last year on the first day of RAGBRAI that was well attended. Anna will be coming back for her second RAGBRAI in 2022 and she is so excited to continue to share what she learned last year, and to provide a resource for this year’s round of newbies!
