Eastern Airlines Flight 980, en route from Paraguay to the United States, crashes directly into a mountain on its descent into El Alto Airport in La Paz, Bolivia. All 29 passengers and crew onboard are killed instantly. But the crash remains one of the most mysterious in aviation history. Why were no bodies ever found? Why did the NTSB never complete a proper investigation? Why were search teams threatened to stay quiet? Was it a coincidence that a number of prominent people were on board? It would take decades for even the surface of this complex tale to be scratched by two curious American friends. This is the story of Eastern Airlines Flight 980.
