Although she was covered with injuries from head to toe, her cause of death was a septic infection from untreated pneumonia. The three adults in the home—Raylee’s father, his girlfriend, and her sister—were charged in her death.That episode barely scratched the surface. Now, I’m retelling Raylee’s full story with the help of her mom, Janice Wriston, who fought for Raylee’s entire eight years to protect her daughter from the girl’s own father, Marty Browning Jr. The way the press told the story, Marty was a negligent father who merely failed to protect his daughter. The truth about Marty is far darker than that.This is the story of a sweet, loving little girl whose mom called her Sunshine.
