So I am on your host danny mary We have both and we also have Jason Colton's answering for days for now in our special guest in Jason Yes three and one Okay, throw it now with two shows anime movies what's your favorite? Damn it dude Netflix is really so called blame. That was pretty dope.
I'm okay blame That is a old school callback So what you watched on Netflix was actually a continuation of this old school like super like anime bullcrap That apparently was too like futuristic and too hard to draw which is why they never did an anime adaptation Yeah, right The artist No, my life my life was super into blame and she was explaining to me as we watched it anyway Yeah, Jason is really good. Yeah blame is awesome. I like that interesting blame or blink blame with an exclamation point Hey, do you remember that really crappy movie about the little stock puppets called nine? Yeah, that's basically blame except not shitty I don't have freaking uh Anyway Okay I Instantly Yeah Basically I was like, yeah, I'm gonna bang all this harem.
Yeah because I'm see I'm chronicle. No anime. It's a movie Yeah, it's like the kids with the telekinesis powers and whatnot. Yeah, oh there's a carco or like trying to bite off a cara Yeah, dude.
I'll do this fucking great. It's a good film good manga. I have the manga. What do you like about it?
Everything. Yeah, I mean, it's just like it's just the coolest thing of like post apocalyptic future Frickin neo Tokyo blow the shit Dude, you know, I need these kids in high school like biker gangars and you mix in all this like psychological shit with telepath and Okay Is essentially like you take four gangs and they all hijacked the same like 1930s Chicago train and just chaos ensues So like in Italian and Italian I think bocano means like chaos. I'm super wrong, but I'm also super lit So it's like something crazy. I'm super wrong Anyway, but it was super good and it's one of those enemies that you can watch the dub and it's not terrible because I actually get pretty good Voice actors for the English.
I love you. Okay. Yeah, does it's good reason old dub is terrible Using Dragon Ball Z the animation dub right everyone's in the financial That's the exception everyone's in that right? It's good.
I'm a dragon ball These fun animation right in front of a ship for all the series except for the first three films It was what they call ocean ocean dub they did the first three films and because I saw that dub first I can't watch the fun animation version of those films because it just doesn't work for some reason to me I love the ocean does it was fucking terrible the dub but it's so much cooler to me for some reason cuz that's what I saw first Anything I watch after that. I'm just like I can't Do trying to sound the high-pitched Japanese Like my Goku's party You can tell you don't really know it's a white dude doing it. Okay, I watch a little bit of the non-dub Super Dragon Ball Z. No, not the super.
Oh, yeah, are the original ones. Yeah, he's voice does something The same chick that kid Goku and Dragon Ball also does adult Goku and Dragon Ball Z and here's the thing Okay, two things I want to say first off speaking to the Japanese Goku boys like I'm down with it for the most part except The fact that they have the same voice who's like Goku Gohan and go 10 and so then like right now Dragon Ball super There seems where it's like they're training and it's like Goku versus Gohan and you know the Japanese return their fight like We just make down the fire Oh, you know, now we are back from that little debacle with the smoke alarm going off because we've been out the house So anyway, Jason was about to go off with an idea something for us to think about in ponder through the World of ending Jason take away. Oh, well just regarding Subtitled versus dubbed I'm hardcore all about so I really enjoy it. I think it's great But I think part of the main reason when I have an issue with dubbed is just because Whenever I think about dubbed there's a place where it's like associating Dragon Balls a good example Rainbow with the first one.
No, Dragon Ball Z. I don't know just Dragon Ball the whole world of Dragon Ball Dragon Ball So way back in the day I remember hearing like family animated series the casting director for the voices had said that they were looking to find For each of their characters they wanted to find like they were doing a cartoon, but they wanted voices with character But they didn't want cartoon character voices That's actually really good boy. Wait, what do you and so but what I think it was a lot of the dub stuff Especially like Dragon Ball and whatever is that there's people who are just doing cartoon character voices like Oh, I'm Vegeta. You're like the hell is that boy like it just doesn't work and so it just leaves you going like No, I don't know the American dubbed version.
Yeah, really I think it was over the top enough Dude, I think but she is actually one of the best but she don't pick the one that I do well I just mean in general I just mean the general when it comes to dub I just think that there's like this is too much Like whether it's like freaking everything from early Pokemon and you know what I am I'll catch him and I'll go leave it I'm not a retail gotta be the next hook I get for sure That was a woman like either way either way It just feels like they're making cartoon character voices not like voices that have character. That's fair. Yeah, that's fair I'm being dick, but yes When it comes to like some of the Japanese shit is like some of the music is better to me because like pick a little steam in the Japanese version of like Dragon Ball Z is freaking ridiculously good and then like when you come over to Dragon Ball It's like cool, but it's all just rock and roll most of the time. It's just like someone's probably like I don't know man.
I can't believe it sometimes like it's not always a guy in the back I just like an electric guitar. I said this before that. I don't think the music in anime I don't know and I can be wrong cuz I'm like, okay, I'm the part of the least anime At least we At least we do I guess anime literate here. I think I find stuff that term.
Sorry Oh, you know it we were we were we were we were we were we were we were um so okay So I remember guy goes actually got me into full-mill alchemist and I kind of stop watching that Oh, yeah cosplay is that a worker So he drunks from me like oh yeah, I got my good good So anyway, so okay like the first episode the one I watched is like these two brothers and they're about to do an alchemy session and I'll give you more like black magic. Okay black magic, right? So they do they go into these dark magic ends up like a pentagram on the frickin floor and They're like, okay. Yeah, we're gonna do this.
Okay, here we go Oh So it's just like that and then one brother gets his hand chopped off and leg and leg chopped off and the other brother gets Who does his body gets good put into a middle armor essentially and so and then after that and you know like animated That whole thing right and that's what he's full-blown doing that right and then after that missing most of his body But then the music it goes into the opening credit scene title and it's like oh me I'm equal like it goes this this it just doesn't fit. Yeah, it doesn't fit. Yeah Yeah Pretty like dark metal going on that one. Yeah, I just remember being like this just feels off like I even dragon ball like Well, I was like no turn it if not I would destroy the entire earth I was on the haja Okay, I normally agree with you but like full-metal activist is actually pretty dark.
It's usually the out show that's a little more light Anyways, it just doesn't it doesn't fit for me like it just doesn't feel the the Jason why do they do that name like what is your theory on why these voices are like why do they purpose to do characters? I mean voices with no character. They just do a character voice. I think I think it's just a disconnects we're starting to see I think You know some of these CG cartoons that were seen coming out of America like I I'm one of my favorites.
I think it's been pretty well documented um American cartoons as a cotter in your dragon And some of the Pixar stuff I think we're seeing that people are starting to grasp like oh it could be a cartoon quote unquote But at the same time have like deeper like higher production values deeper meanings and themes But I think that still within America. There's this general overall sensibility that says a cartoon that's hand-drawn animated is for children Therefore when I cast these characters they have to sound like cartoon characters like like No Wornant why can't hold on cartoon voice right? No, no two seconds two seconds two seconds. I'm sorry.
We all talk like Johnny Brown. Yeah Two seconds though. Why can't I get a good fucking girl dude? Okay, that's literally what chicks look for some fucking dumbass like bulkass dude who would just like leave him for the next Hot chick right?
That's like the ideal situation these days. Okay counterpoint There is an episode where in fact, I think it's like the second episode where he's like on the island of like beautiful women And they're like trying to make a sacrifice and it has to be a virgin and he like raises his eyebrow He's like wait a virgin Yeah, he does get laid just not on screen They legit save virgin on like on the fucking cartoon I think I'm thinking about Now before the adult swam version. Yeah, yeah, but the only thing I'm picturing right now is before the old school type of cartoons back in the day Like remember it's like cartoon at work with cartoon. So my experience of the anime I don't know it goes to like as a kid you didn't have a whole lot of cash and you're in the you know 90s You did what you could to try and get your hands on some anime So back in those days there was like stuff on sci-fi that would air Um every here and there there was like a Dominion tank police and shit like that Dominion tank police. Yeah, that just sounds demonic. No, no, no not like demon like it was like this world where there was this like authoritative Military and like the police were like right around in tanks. Anyway, um, yeah, there's stuff like that there was uh, you know speed racer There was those grown in warriors I had the bit of like samurai troopers in Japan.
How do you say it? How do you say it? What was the Japanese title of it? I was just like yodoy then samurai truth Jason I won request a long time ago.

I think what you guys now say is like a wee-boo Um The young ins nowadays they call it on the mia boos But like I mean I I think I just have roots in their tour like now There's sometimes where I think because that was like some of my moments in high school of like different stuff I feel nostalgic for every now and again. I want something like that where it's like um There's no so familiar about it and nostalgic that's comforting, you know, yeah, so it's more more than that more that than anything else These days but um, but I still do like whenever Netflix comes out with like some kind of new series Or whatever I do enjoy like giving it a watch. You know what that's when I haven't watched yet that I thought was looked so totally good What do you or your thoughts on it? It's pretty okay? Um, so the thing about a jean is that it's one it's though I would say it's the one anime that does that animation style okay because there's it does has that weird s animation style that just do do And as much as it pains me to say the new berserk series that reboot uses that animation style Yeah, that's like starting to become a lot more predominant Yeah, it irks me because it's such a crappy animation style But I feel that it must be popular because it's probably super cheap Yeah, it's probably super cheap and we're seeing it one more like blame was done like that. Ajin was done like that Blame is also pretty okay Yeah, but like berserk just irks me because it's such a dark super cool anime.
Yeah, did you watch the original berserk? Yeah, did you watch the new movie reboots? I didn't watch the movie reboots. The movie reboots are really good the new anime series I stomach it because I like the series.
Yeah, but the animation style just is so painful to watch Yeah, it's dude. Yeah, it's I mean it's but that style like we said is kind of on hot there like Amazon There's like the studio Ghibli series that my kids really dug so I really did wait was that one about it's like rowing Yeah, the robbers daughter. Yeah, and um, and it also had that train series, right? It was like a but it was like zombie apocalypse, but like a train But that was like crazy good actually character designer from that was the same character designer of like the original 1980s macross macross, you know, what was that called again?
Uh like carbon area of the iron. Oh, yeah, yeah carbon area of the iron before. Yeah, I saw like I saw like eight episodes speaking of which I need a business series. Yeah, that was really good.
So we're creating it. I enjoyed it Um, so anyways like now I just think I find a lot of stalls and I like it's comforting to know some of that And so like speaking of which like going talking about going back in the day Like you know daddy goes his wife Bree and I went to high school together like we had civics class together and I had like my I had my uh Back then I was like super into anime like Gohan was my favorite character like so I bring like my little like Gohan stuff and It was just like oh hey, no one likes anime you like anime. Yeah, cool. Did you always like your way?
Like back then though. It was like super like that. Yeah, squirrely everybody in radio land my wife and Jason went to school together Yeah, I went to high school together Class of 2000. Did you like Gohan from the beginning like he's like I can't do it.

I feel like there's almost like a I don't want to say political No, political is like actually political, but there's almost like a hierarchy, especially an enemy of like Certain characters always have to be on top But what that let's be honest He's a principal saying that's awesome and the thing is that they didn't even even get making videos to retain four They didn't even still give him his shiny needed because he was like, let's just be this guy Then they didn't even beat him and then Goku beats him as normal Goku.

I'll take this fucker down like that was some good shit man Yeah, I thought I was like Vegeta dad does nothing for Goku. Yeah, my son gets taken out does nothing for Goku also Oh, really get taken out Krillin Go super saying after that what but you also get still win for nalin Bulma. I can't I can't hear the thing I can do a top numbers I can do top numbers wait movies and shows mixed no just enemy shows and no movies included no music I can include movies to stop top enemies.

Not three Okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay Starting with number three Gotta be woofer aim. I don't think I've seen that it was only one season long It's not super known, but that should hit me really in the field It was a good show about a group of werewolves basically who can turn human But into normal whoops are not like human eyes looking wolves and trying to look for a place called paradise where these human eyes Where wolves can live in peace. It's really fun. Oh wow back.
I'm not so watch. Are we doing top three's or top five? Top three's okay back around like 15 I think I watched it and it was really cool because I almost had to do with like a segregation style thing where these like These pack of these type of humans that could turn into wolves didn't exist anymore people Really know about him. It's only looking for this world that they supposedly was called paradise where they could live in peace So I can't kill them all this kind of jazz.
That's a really cool series I would definitely recommend checking out called wolf rain. It's on the fun mission app It's I'm sure it's on and my beyond who definitely looking up really good to two Probably who is this tough? I think I'm gonna go cowboy bebop Fantastic dude fantastic series. Yeah, super good.
I watched it like five times over original to an army So watch to super classic. I love all the characters and I love spike that dude's like the coolest guy ever I mean Number one I mean I'm gonna want to just throw an honorable mention because I feel bad it didn't put it in the three Is okay number one would be drag while you just because it's from my it's like really sick like childhood growing up I watched that from the start. It's literally what got me an anime So I have to drink was he is corning as it was as long and drying down as it was in you know people hate it for certain reasons But it was just like that's that really got me into the anime the first place So let's go remember one my own mentions you hockey show because I shit fucking great What did you say? You hockey show you hockey show bro the spirit world you hock show Basically the guy this guy goes to say the favorite of the series guy goes to say this kid who can hit by car and he Intern gets hit by the car and quote-unquote dies But he's still alive because he gets to join this realm of dudes who basically protects earth from a spirit realm Oh, you can almost call it like a purgatory style thing It's kind of like dr.
Strange no, it's like DBZ spirits and yeah He fights experience often things like that so evil spirits try like you know Basically possess people or doing things to tickle the earth because the other just asleep dark I guess yeah So he's a piece of it basically becomes this this kind of like spirit Yeah as an agent spirit detective where you hunt down people spirits like that It's like man in black basically gets to live so I PD yeah pretty much yeah pretty much I can't do top three man. It's too hard. Okay. I will do top three but take full notice that these top three are not my only top three I will have too many honorable mentions.
I'll do one honorable mention. I will do three You have three enemies that you can go and I did it about three that I want people to watch That's bad. Okay, okay three that I want people to watch not my three favorite make that note. It's super cool Like there's a bunch of really good characters the mom can get super deep the anime's like one of those enemies that you watch it And you're like whoa I want more Epilogue sucks, but the anime is actually good cool. It's like the super psychological like dark thriller about these like super It's about these like societies of cities But like societies like dying so they're like really hard to get to the different cities and each city is their own like paradise Except they're not only the leaders know that it's not a paradise And my third has to be this one is probably the most popular one that of the three that I'm gonna name and that's gonna be Full metal Aquamas brotherhood not the first full metal Aquamas not to say that the first full metal isn't good It's just that the director took a lot of creative leeway because they caught up to the manga But brotherhood is very true to the manga very good anime. I cannot stress how good brotherhood is It's just amazing beginning to end and my honorable mention has to be death note Death note is one of those amazing psychological thriller Animes that everyone should watch everyone even if you're not a fan of anime on the Netflix series Yeah, nobody watch it nobody watch it Enghurs me how bad it was real quick.
I didn't even watch it. I just know it's that I heard if you love the anime It sucked really bad, but as far as just an outside film go it wasn't bad. No, it's dude No, no, no, I didn't watch it But I watched basically like a synopsis and it's horrible it gets all the characters wrong it makes the Protagonist and the antagonist without really spoiling it if you ever really watched it It makes the antagonist L seem like a total bitch like L is not a bitch like it doesn't bother me that they switched the different ethnicities Let's cool whatever, but the character is horrendous. Wait, who's that was the demon?
Who's the demon? The demon is you yeah, and I will say that it is critically a kid a claim that frickin will end if oh Willam to foe was a great reuke. It's funny because he actually looks like Ryu He's that ugly but um no I cuz I remember I watched some of death now. I have never finished it I have to finish it, but that was amazing that the freakin live action is The motive of the character.

I don't know what he And in the series he called out his moves like Who do you then but in that particular movie Super hyper realistic like they don't name moves and whatever.
