Episode 19: Do You Treat Your Car Better Than You Treat Yourself?

The longest year of my life was between my 15th birthday and my 16th birthday.   It was only 365 days, but it felt like 5 years. I couldn’t wait to get my driver’s license. My first car was a 1977 Dodge Volare Station Wagon with no hubcaps and a bright yellow paint job. My friends at school called it “The Cream Puff”, but I didn’t care. I had a car and I could drive!   Why am I taking you on this trip down Memory Lane? Well, it’s because I want to ask you a very important question. Do you treat your car better than you treat yourself?   You are probably saying “Of course not!”, but I want you to really think about it before you answer. Just think of the things that you do daily, weekly and annually to make sure that your car keeps running safely.   Obviously we are talking about self care and most private school leaders don’t do a very good job with that. On today’s episode, you are going to learn 4 Ways That You Can Treat Yourself Better Than You Treat Your Car:   Fill the Tank Check The Oil Pass The Annual Inspection Heed the Check Engine Light   What you do is emotional work. Unrelenting, emotional work. The only way that you can thrive and not just survive at your school is to prioritize your self care.
