Hey guys, here's a poll. How many of you whipped during that theme song? Oh man. Did you?

No, I did not. I had a reflex too. Did you really? Yes.

To whip? I guess that was your thing for a little while. Well, I'm going to listen to that theme song with you. What's up?

By the way, this is just today's podcast. No intro. We're going right into it. I had a real big mem.

Real quick. No big mem. Yes. Mnem.

It's a little memory. So this week two whip events happened. No, really? Yes.

And listeners I'm talking about the craze that swept, swept the nation. It's the whip and the nay-nay by that one kid. Yeah. The whip, whip and the nay-nay.

What's his name? Oh, look it up. Okay, yeah, yeah. He was like pretty young.

cilantro? Oh, cilantro. Cilantro. Cilantro.

Cilento. Cilento. Cilento. Cilento.

The ice cream. Something like that. It's a lot of bread. Yes, I love his caramel chocolate.

You know, the sweet, sea salt from a conch. Okay, see, I'm wearing a terrible swirl. It's a little swirl girl. A little swirl girl.

A swirl girl to swirl world. Anyways. So, okay, two whip events happen this week since Wednesday, which is a lot of whipping in four days. Yeah.

So, one, I had this dream. I think I might have already told you about this dream. Okay. Where I was, I was just walking around outside.

I know where I really remember. I was just dancing around and I was dancing, but every time I whipped, every single person, whether they were sitting on a bench or playing chess with a friend or reading a newspaper or walking, everybody went, yay! Oh my god. Like, not like a, oh, it was like a, yay!

Every time I whipped. That's hilarious. So, I just kept whipping. Yeah.

And I was kind of like the whipping queen. Of course. Yes. So, I was really jazzed on that.

And then, because guess what? We started classes again. Right. So, I was cool kids.

I'm taking one of my lectures with one of our art friends from last semester. And our professor, you know, it's an art history course, so it's a little bit. So, she plays a lot of classical music. She's like, guys, I'm gonna play some of my favorite music.

And so, my kind of will be like, this music is making me feel very threatened. Because it's a lot of like, string quartets. Yes. So, I know exactly what you mean.

She'll sit there and like, make the tiniest whip. I felt an immediate connection. Absolutely. Yeah.

You two are supposed to be friends. It was meant to be. And so, I was telling her, I told her about my dream. And I was like, thank god you're a fan of the whip.

She's like, I don't want to be. But it's in me. Yup. Can relate.

So, during our theme song, now that I am whipping again. Yeah, it's back. I had the, there she go. Brrr.

Oh. Yeah. Listen, you can't see that. But I whipped twice.

A little double whip on the beat. And all I have to do is sit head in the way. Yeah, there's a lot of like, body to it instead of just the wrist. Because I remember when you did it, when we saw Elena that time, it was a big one.

And she was like, no, you can't. Yup. She knew it was coming. Oh, you can, you can tell.

Did you do like a little leg up off the ground too? Depends on how I'm sitting. Right. If you're standing.

Yeah. I'm standing. There's probably a little leg up. You reminded me of something.

Can I tell you what a dream that I had this week? Of course. It's the weirdest dream I've had in such a long, I've been having weird dreams lately, but this one was too much. So.

So stupid. Also, I've had this trend lately of like every, not, maybe not every single night this week, but close. Okay. Probably like five out of seven.

That's more than half. Yeah. I will have like an intense dream that feels really long. And then I'll wake up just a little bit too early.

Like it's never in the middle of the night. It's always like 20 minutes before I'm supposed to get out of bed. Yeah. Hate that.

Is that like a song awareness of sleeping? I think so. Whoa. Yeah.

I have so much anxiety that my body just wakes me up. Always be up. Yeah. Exactly.

No, I had this really weird dream and it's same thing where I woke me up right before I was supposed to be up. I had this dream and I think a lot happened before this part of the dream, but this was the part that I obviously remembered because it was closest to when I woke up. I had no car and no way to get around except for this shitty little bike. It was like a shitty little bike.

You know, you know those like plastic kids tricycles that are like super low to the ground. It's red and yellow. Yeah. And it's like slanted.

So the handlebars are like above the seat. It was like that, but it had two wheels. So the mechanics were all weird because it was terrifying. When we went back, it was so low to the ground.

And the whole dream was just me trying to get places on this stupid bike. Can you stay up? No. That was the problem.

It was like I have somewhere to be right now. I was so late. I was so late everywhere because I kept crashing the bike because I couldn't stay up on the bike. And then it was also like part of the dream was also like being lost in our city.

So like I remember looking at the street names and trying to figure out where to go. I'm a little lost in New York. On this stupid stupid little bike. And I was just I was working so hard.

I was pedaling so hard. I kept crashing the bike. And when I woke up, my whole body hurt. I could tell that I don't think I was moving around a lot, but I was just so tense.

I was trying to balance balance and pedal the bike. My whole body was so tense and like wound up. And I was just like, I was like sore. Yeah.

I was like, I was like, I'm pedaling a bike that wasn't real. It was the weirdest and worst thing ever. It was tough because it's like you put in all that work and anyway, it was like, I didn't even do anything. Didn't even go anywhere.

What the hell? And I was like, well, at least I'm not late. But. Oh, was that that morning?

Yeah. Oh God. Yeah. So awful.

Goodness. Yeah. So like, I have a couple questions. Okay.

And a couple of men's because I remember having, I think I had a Mickey Mouse tricycle that was low to the ground plastic. Terrible pedals like on the wheel. Yeah. And every bike or a trike that style, when you pedal and you're going across the ground, it goes.

It makes that sound because it's all gravelly. Yeah. gravelly is hell. Yeah.

I think that's really cute. So like when you crashed your bike, were you crashing into things or were you just tipping over because of the weight distribution of like that? Like that, like the ground, not many wheels. I was just tipping over.

That's how stereo. Yeah, which is funnier. I love that. Yeah.

Yeah. I just couldn't. I just couldn't keep it up. I kept.

I kept. I felt like every time I turned, like the whole wheel would just like flip out and like, because it was so low to the ground, there was no like, there was no way to turn. There was no way to turn it without tipping the bike over. It's hard to ride a normal bike.

Yeah, it's true. That's a big task. Yeah. What do you think it means?

I don't know. I don't know what it meant. It bothered me for a while though. I couldn't stay at the last minute.

It haunted me. Yeah. That dream haunted me in a weird way. I don't like it.

Is that your first day of school? Was it on the first day of school? It was the next day. Yeah.

Yeah. Yeah. So awful. Anyways, that was a weird dream I had this week.

I had one more dream story. Yes. I love this. Because this was on, this was the morning of the Friday, which is yesterday.

Okay. Oh, it's Monday right now though, because we're going to get started. Anyway, right now we're recording and starting. Okay.

So Friday morning dream, because I woke up at 2am, I went back to sleep. Oh, my. And this was the dream I had right before I woke up. I woke up like 620 my arms at 627.

So I was in an airplane. Okay. I don't have any airplane dreams. But the stewardess came on and she's like, hi, we're going to make a water landing?

Don't worry. And I was like, okay, normally we'll be like, what? I was just kind of, okay, that sounds fine. So we were going to Salt Lake City and we landed in the Salt Lake City Airport moat.

And I don't know why there was moat there, but they're like, okay. So we landed in the moat. We got to go out of the landing ramp thing. Right.

Like the cool ramp. Yeah. And then everybody on the airplane was only six of us or so, like not many. We sat on the slide and then it turned into a raft and we had to ride into the airport on the raft.

Through the moat. And then the remote turned into like a lazy river through the airport. But I wasn't relaxing. I had all my luggage.

It sucked. I was just like, wow, this is such a cool story. So then the news was following us down the lazy river. And they only wanted to talk to Colomine.

They're like, how was that? Are you okay? I was like, I don't know. It's just kind of a fun story.

And they were like, are you hurt? Are you okay? And I was like, yeah, I just really want to get off of this raft. And they're like, we have to go to the end of the river and I never got there and woke up.

So I feel like we're hearing a lot of themes of like trying to go somewhere and rashing or not getting there. You're supposed to be. And also themes of the perfect dance move in the world. So what does this mean?

Wow. Wow. Lots of heavy stuff this week. I don't know.

Yeah. Listen to what do you think it means. I've been scared the future lately, but you know. But you know, it's like, what's new?

Yeah, that's normal, right? Scared of the future while I hop in my DeLorean, congeuos. So else you got it. I don't know.

That's the one. Yes, we started classes this week. Ooh, yeah. How you feeling about that?

It's fine. Yeah. Like, it's fine. There's some of them super excited about and others that are just like, hmm, I can't do it.

Yeah. So, how about you? I'm feeling good. Yeah.

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I think I'm gonna have like a lot of fun moments.

One of my teachers was like, hi, I can't come to class all this week because I'm in Nepal. See you next week. Oh, cool. So I already had class games.

That was funny. That is kind of funny. I was kind of into it. Yeah.

Nice. Yeah. But mostly I'm stoked. Good.

I don't know. Good. But it's a ton of work for the semester. So I'm a little daunted.

Yeah. Yeah. You're gonna kill it though. So are you and all your meme-lord friends in your computer class?

Oh my goodness. Who knew? Computer science majors are just a bunch of meme kids. From like 2003.

Right. There was like some really new ones and some really old ones. So like, okay, backstory. On the first day, it was actually kind of cute.

So I have this professor in this one class who's like, I just think the way he talks is so sweet because he's older. He's not super old, but he's older. And he just has this to me that's like, okay, so you guys, I really like to try some active learning in his class. And that's just his whole, he's like, oh yeah, let's just give this a try.

Oh, that's very sweet. And so he wanted to try. There's this, there's this thing called Padlet, which is like, if you have this URL, anybody can go on, you can give the URL to your class and your students can, you know, post. Links or pictures or, you know, do like, so you could ask them a question and they can respond, but it's electronic, so it's fancy.

So as millennials, we'll actually like it. Exactly. Yeah, exactly. Learned all about it in this edtech class that I had to take.

And so it was cute to see some like a professor using it. That's not in the education department. Cute. So we're all doing that.

And he's like, get in groups of three and come up with a team name. And then tell me what you think an algorithm is. It's like a 300 level computer science class. It's like a three hundred level computer science class.

Oh, no, two guys want to learn today? Okay. It's super cute. So of course, everyone, you have to go over the team name and it's just, it's like a hundred and fifty person lecture hall.

Oh, damn. And there's like maybe 10 girls in the glass and the rest of them are men. And it's just like, okay. And so yeah, so all of these, like, first of all, it started with the first one, I think that popped up was all one word.

We have a Minecraft server. It was like, wow, you're cool. But then people started doing like very new memes. Like, I don't know if you've heard the like, Ugandan Knuckles.

It's like a brand new, like super recent. Okay, so there's this thing called VR Chat for, I don't even know, like, you're not Knuckles Ugandan from Uganda. There's this thing called VR Chat and it's just like this done VR thing. So it's kind of like sonic.

Yeah. So it's Knuckles from sonic, but like, they have these like really weird characters. What is that? What was that?

There's like the me-verse or like the me- space or whatever. It's like that, essentially, but it's in VR and everyone has a character and you can all talk to each other. Oh, that's kind of fun. It is.

It's funny. But like, so people will like be this character. There's like weird Knuckles character. And then there's this, I don't know how this whole trend started, but it was just like them speaking in accent like they're from Uganda.

And there's this, so it's a meme and that was their name. So it's almost Knuckles. And then there's this phrase that they always say, which is, do you know the way? And so there was all these things like, we know the way.

And like all of these stuff. So there was a lot of those memes. But then of course, as people always tend to do, they reverted back to, you know, the classic Jet Fuel Camp Melt Steel Beams. Oh God.

Bush did 9-11. Every time, okay. Every time I hear the Jet Fuel Camp Melt Steel Beams. Yeah.

So first of all, it's a tongue twistler fitted for me. Maybe for everybody. I can't even say me. That's a little tongue twistler.

Oh my God. So like, when I was- It was hard to say. I think I was a sophomore and in high school. Yes.

Not last year, to God. I was new to Tumblr and I saw this joke and the punch line was Jet Fuel Camp Melt Steel Beams. Right. And the rest of it was like a comic panel of like people making bad drawings of any of the poo characters.

So it's like Tigger and it was like the lemon audio involved. I can find it easy. I know exactly what you need. Yeah.

And I remember I thought it was so funny, but I can explain why. And then I was showing like my mom the funny pictures that I had recently on my phone. She's like, look at this one. And she was like, what?

Oh no. I remember that from like 2001. I was like, oh, and like I didn't understand it until maybe three years later. Whoa.

When I saw the meme again, I was like, oh, okay. That's just a conspiracy theory. Yeah. Jesus.

Yeah. Interesting. Yes. That's my story.

Yeah. I'm like, oh God, Caroline. Investigate things before you laugh. God.

Right. Yeah. Interesting. Yeah.

I know. It's funny that that that's the one that people tend to go back to. Yeah. So, oops.

Yeah. It was really weird. I don't know. It was funny too, because our professor didn't say anything about it.

He wasn't like, oh, what is that being? No. He just didn't say any. Which is like probably a smart move on his part.

Yeah. Yeah. But like it was weird. It was weird.

It was a weird time. It felt very uncomfortable in that room. Oh, I bet. Yeah.

How old do you think this guy is? The teacher? He's probably in his late 50s. Because I keep picturing that guy from the vine where like the person in the class kept taking a video from every day.

We watch the classic. Hello. Hello. Yeah.

He's probably a little younger than that, but it's that same demeanor. Oh, I love him. Hello. Hello.

Hello. Hey. I'd really like to try some active learning. Because I'm getting back to learning.

Really cute. Really cute. Yeah. That was a fun one.

A lot of memes. Wow. Take it off. You can get to know great times.

We watch the games. Do you ever play games? Shant to be dreams. I just wanna be here every Monday Wednesday Friday.

Oh, I just can't wait. I just can't wait. Big world. To be king.

How about that? Yeah. Yeah, I so you know how people don't know how to say my name. Yeah.

So of course, I happen again in education, you know, in class kind of thing. Yeah. I really don't understand it because people need Caroline so with a Y. Yeah, totally.

I don't know that I've ever met a Carolyn that spells it the same way as you. I don't think that exists. Because, you know this semester learning about phonics and phonics in our language is going to teach kids how to read. Right.

It's so cool. First of all Oh my god. So anyway, you know, he at the end of a word in English language, most of the time, means he makes the vowel say its name. Right.

A Y doesn't mean that. Oop, sometimes Y. So she goes, this is my name, Carolyn. And I just kind of gave up the fight.

I was like here. And I didn't feel like correcting her. And there were three kids from our class last semester where our professor made a big deal out of it every time she messed up. And I was just like, it's OK.

It's OK. It's OK. It's OK. Whatever.

It's fine. Yeah. And they all looked at me real quick. It's like a really quiet way.

And they're all just like, it's fine. Like I'm out the back. And I finally was like, be strong. Be strong.

Tell her who you are. Mine is Carolyn. It's Carolyn. She's like, oh, Carolyn.

I was like, yes. You did it. It's hard. I don't like correcting people on it.

Yeah. Yeah. The one guitar teacher that we shared. Yeah.

I never corrected him. No. No, I think he probably would still call you Carolyn. For years to this day.

Yeah. Yeah. It's fine. Yeah.

Yeah. I know I had a friend in high school who like, this is funny. So we knew this guy who, same kind of thing, would mispronounce her name every single time. And any time I would talk to him about her, I would make such a huge deal of like, over-pronouncing her name.

He never caught on. Not once. It was the weird, you know, same thing. Like, he was an adult.

So I didn't want to like, flat out correct him. But it was always just like, oh. Yes. Her name.

And she's like, yeah. And then he would never say right. And I'm like, oh my god, are you kidding me? Yeah.

So what do we think? I don't know why people are so, it's not that hard. It's like the whole point of phonics is, is, I'm just going to dive into one more and real quick. Yeah.

I'm getting real jazzed. So you use phonics for kids that are struggling to grasp reading and stuff like that. It's for struggling readers. And you go letter by letter and then you work up to sound by sound.

Exactly. So like, because our language, like a G can have like a gillion different pronunciations. Yeah. But what it's next to is stuff like that.

Right. So when you see a name, when in doubt, sound it out. Yeah, exactly. Okay.

When in doubt, so that's a good rule, just in general. Yep. Sound it out. Anytime you're like, I don't know what's going on.

Just sound it out. Just break it down in his pieces. Sound it out. Scaffled.

That's like, oh, we had a professor use the word scaffold today and I like wanted to like, Elle you'd be like, Scafflekle like, did you hear Scaffling? Scaffling. Scaffling. Go.

We do have one class together this semester, which is called studies in world building. And we tell you. Oh, it's the cutest. Jesus, this might be the best bunch you'll ever see.

It truly is. And this was, we actually, it was super cute too, because he took roll at the beginning of the class because it's like a small seminar class. And like half the, you know, you're just like, oh, if there's a name that you prefer that you go, or that you prefer I call you, let me know. And there's probably like, I probably half the class, you know, it was cute.

It was hugely cute. They're like, yeah, I go like this though. I was totally prepared for him to say Carolyn. And he's like, Caroline Janssen?

I was like, whoa, that's nice. Wow. Here. Yeah.

It was cute. I loved it. Yeah, it was very sweet. Yeah, I think that was probably the best.

Because everybody in the first week of classes is like, let's do icebreaker stuff like that. But he was so like, purposeful and subtle. Yes. And we all just, we're, we trusted him real quick.

Yeah. We're getting there. Right. It takes a while.

Yeah. But he went around and he's like, oh, tell me who you are, we're from. And then I figure food right now. Yeah.

Yeah. Sweetie did. And someone say something and at least one of their person would be like, yeah, yeah. Yeah.

And then I think it's like, ultimately like tying it back to the course material, which is like, what icebreaker should be about. It was nice that he like found a way to make it relevant instead of just like, well, we were going to be spending the whole semester together so we should probably know each other's names. Like, it was so cute. And then we talked about our favorite fictional worlds.

Our favorite worlds. Goodness. Courtney, real quick, made a bud. I did.

Okay. So we're going around the circle. Great. And I said that my favorite fictional world was Welcome to Night Vale.

And there is this, there is this girl who's like, oh, oh, oh, oh, and she came up with her names Holly. Yes. Let's talk about Welcome to Night Vale. It was so cute because the way she came up, like I saw her looking at us and I was like, oh, okay.

And she walked over and she like, per hand, she's like, you're the night feel girl? Yeah. I was like, my friend. And we talked, and she like walked with us like, yeah, we were leaving and she walked with us for a while.

It was just very sweet. It was also cute. Because like, we were probably the last people in the room and stuff and other classes coming in. Oh my gosh, yes.

And this girl from the next class, one of you said the faceless old woman, just a character from the show and she goes, wait, I'm sorry. I didn't mean over here. Welcome to Night Vale. We're just finishing up, but it was super like, I don't know, just a very sweet way to bond, like right away.

So I can already tell that that class is like, it's going to be so cool because we went around when we talked about our favorite worlds and like, I'm so excited. We're not so excited to talk about the stuff that they love, which is just the best. It's the best thing ever. And I was telling Caroline, we get to do this project where we, it's like a presentation where we pick an artifact from a fictional world and we like show it to the class and have a big discussion about it.

And I was like, okay, so a bunch of people sitting in a room for an hour and talking about stuff that I love, that's like a dream, truly. I just want to show everybody the stuff that I care about. Yeah, it can be great. We had like little ideas.

Yeah, I know. I started writing things down. It was really sweet too because after we talked about our favorite fictional world and he's like, what did you notice? I think it was Holly, she's like, everything just got so excited.

Yeah, we are, we are excited. I'm just glad. It's really cute. I got to talk about Bojack and I was like, yes.

And he like made a point about it later too. He's like, yeah, Bojack, they do this. Sure do, sir. Yeah.

There's a guy in our class who looks like Adam Driver a little bit. Oh, was he sitting kind of across people from us? Yeah. Yes.

I was just like, oh, it's you. She asked about that Kylo Ren. Yes. He doesn't look quite like a rectangle, but I think it would be funny.

Goodness. Y'all have you seen the new Star Wars? Have you? What do you think of it?

Yes. Let me know. Yeah, interesting. What a time.

There is a moment where an Adam Driver looks like a perfect rectangle. It's just a rectangle. The Courtney told me about this. So I went and I was like, all right, Mom, Courtney says it.

Kylo looks like a rectangle. And like the part came and my mom just went, she like, oh my God. Look at him. Nothing has ever been funnier than because the Kylo Ren challenge is just guys taking pictures of them shirtless with like their black pants pulled up really high.

Yeah. Seeing John Mayer do that so seriously is maybe the funniest thing I've ever seen in my life. I've never seen anyone want to be any more than John Mayer. She does right now.

He wants to be so relevant right now. It's great. So what a weird time. I guess that's the way.

If you want to be relevant, be Kylo Ren as a pants boy. Everybody go to John Mayer's Instagram and find that photo because it's hilarious. I can't even believe that. It's just a selfie in a bathroom mirror.

That's all it is. And it's so funny. I mean, I think it's like, look, look, really good. Kylo Ren challenge.

Yeah, get on it. A good time. Anyways, so that's our fun class world building. Yes, with our world friends.

With our world friends. So expect ample updates. About our world friends. Absolutely.

Yes. I have a question. I'm ready. Okay.

It requires a little bit of a setup. Okay. Hit me with it. Okay.

Remember that group? Fifth Harmony? Yes, I do. How can you talk about them before?

Certainly. And you know, Camila Cabello left. Right. And then I'm like, I'm not fourth Harmony.

Like rebranding is hard. No, thank you. Okay. We're going to pretend to happen.

So Camila Cabello apparently, like, and you should have sung out. And it was called a fan. I was like, whatever. Didn't care.

Didn't hear it in my natural life. Right. When all of a sudden, like two months too late, I think. Okay.

It was on my recommended on YouTube. I don't know how many people actually look at the recommended on YouTube, but like I've stumped through it because it's really funny. Sure. And it was like recommended for you.

I can be like, okay, I was like, okay. I have time right now. Sure. Two months too late.

So I put it on. And now I've heard it everywhere all the time because I've heard it. It was like, this is incredible. Yeah.

This is a fun song. But then like I saw all these things everywhere. It's like, I've been played on a toy piano or a play by rubber chicken and like weird stuff. What?

It is the simplest, most dumb melody. Okay. Like if you just played it on a piano, it's like, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn. Right.

Right. It's not cool. Oh, she doesn't really get to show up for vocals that much. But the music is really fun.

Right. And it's really laid back. And a lot of songs right now are like big, giant bass. Right.

So this song is just like yummy. So my question is, there's a couple of questions. Okay. One.

What makes a mainstream pop song that you like? Okay. Like what's an example of one in whatever year? Two.

Why do we hate mainstream pop songs? But like secretly maybe love them. Interesting. I don't know.

Because I haven't heard any hate for her band. I've only heard like just a fun song. Good things. Yeah.

But like, I don't know. I really like that one Nick Jonas chains song or not chains. What's it called? Not chains.

And not jealous. Um, does he let someone feature on that? Oh, I can find it real quick. Um, it's a cool music.
