We're told to put on the whole armor of God, so that we can stand firm against the evil plans of our enemy, Satan. And we're told to persevere in praying and standing firm. The devil is a roaring lion, prowling around looking for someone to devour. If you knew a real live angry and hungry lion was stalking you every day, pouncing at every turn, jaws open wide, would you persevere in being ready, body armor on and a stout weapon ready? Of course you would! God is calling you to persevere in that same way against your actual enemy, Satan, who in truth, is far more deadly and dangerous than a physical lion.
