Episode 193: The Best Way to Protect Kids From Abuse

from The Speaking Out on Sex Abuse Podcast · host Jimmy and Clara Hinton

SO many children were not, and STILL are not, able to be protected from abusers. What is the best line of defense against an abuser? This is a very hotly debated subject. Some believe that adults should have all the responsibility for protecting innocent people. Those in this camp often believe that teaching a child to protect him or herself puts too much pressure on children. Others believe that we should teach children to protect themselves. While we believe that children should be educated, we have a long way to go in teaching adults to listen to disclosures from children. Often kids are not believed or adults will find some way to fail to protect them. We have a long road to go. In this episode we lay out what we believe is the best course of action.
