EPISODE 198 - DISABILITY ROYAL COMMISSION: Their Voices Must Be Heard

This is an episode about the Disability Royal Commission, in particular the stories of Participants that came out a few months ago from the findings of the DRC. Upon the release of the DRC, we were able to order the hard copy books provided, and had them delivered to our office. Within the 20kg of books delivered to our office, were 3 specific large books which had up to 9,000 stories of Participants telling us of the abuse they had to endure as a disabled individuals  while under the protection of the NDIS. We felt it was important to share some of these stories to our podcast listeners, to show the massive undertaking that brought out the truth of what took place in terms of abuse, over the last decade or so. This is part of our history, and these stories should be heard. We now give a platform for some of these stories to be read out, by Dhanika from our office, to give these victims a voice for us to hear, and to never forget what happened.If you get a chance, please google the 'Disability Royal Commission' and look for the section on their website which allows you to order these books for free. The DRC is a moment in our Australian  history, and these abuses took place under the supervision of all sorts of stakeholders who were supposed to protect these vulnerable people.
