Episode 199: Dr Gurpreet Padda on Addiction, Metabolic Syndrome and that which is ailing the US
from Dancing in the Discomfort Zone with Anne Bonney · host Anne Bonney
This is a fascinating episode jam packed with information on some of the major challenges we have in our country, addiction, chronic pain, and heart disease. In the past, society viewed alcoholism and drug addiction as moral flaws. Popular “treatments” involved imprisonment, sentencing to asylums, and church-guided prayer. Not surprisingly, these methods were generally ineffective. Today we understand that addiction is a brain disease characterized by fundamental and long-lasting changes in the brain. Like other chronic diseases, addiction can be managed successfully, and modern treatments are based on scientific research, enabling people to counteract addiction’s powerful disruptive effects on the brain and behavior and to regain control of their lives. Treatment is firmly based on conventional neurochemistry and behavioral psychology but based upon the individual patients’ paradigm. Treatment options may include multidisciplinary techniques such as psychedelics, ketamine therapy, EMF fields, use of hormesis, nutritional programs to reduce neuroinflammation, fascia disruption to uncover latent emotional roadblocks, and many more.Want more from Dr Padda? http://www.addictionology.centerhttp://www.reversediabetes.mdhttp://www.linkedin.com/in/gurpreet-padda
