One of the beautiful paradoxes of the Christian life is this:The more we grow in Christ, the more we realize how much we still have to learn.When we first come to faith, it’s easy to imagine that maturity means having all the answers.But over time, something changes.Our confidence shifts away from ourselves and toward God.We become less concerned with appearing mature and more concerned with becoming faithful.That is the kind of maturity Paul describes today.After speaking about pressing toward the heavenly prize, he now turns to those who are growing in Christ and reminds them what true spiritual maturity looks like.
