After being wrongly convicted, LAPD cop John Spartan is cryogenically frozen in prison. 36 years later, he is thawed out by Lenina Huxley (Sandra Bullock) and the pacified LAPD to hunt down career psychopath Simon Phoenix (Wesley Snipes) with whom Spartan has shared history. Can Spartan bring down Phoenix while fitting in to a society that no longer needs a hard as nails cop?
