EPISODE 2: Folk Horror, Part 2 - "The VVitch" (2015)

Welcome to the second episode of Stabby Road! (be gentle, we're still learning) For the this block of shows, the Stabby Roadsters examine the theme of Folk Horror, with each co-host selecting their favorite film from their particular era of horror history. ******* Episode One (last Thursday, Sept. 15): The Blood On Satan's Claw (1971), often referred to by people smarter than us as the progenitor of the Folks Horror genre. Presented by our resident Boomer, Joe Sena of Fourth Castle Brands (Fearwerx.com, The Monster Channel and more). Episode Two (today, Sept. 22): The VVitch (2015),  one of A24's earliest entries in what snobby fans refer to as "elevated  horror". Presented by our resident Millennial, the lovely Sonia Harcourt, award-winning adult performer most likely known for her production of the porn parody Whorrifier. Episode Three (next Thursday, September 29): Midsommar (2019),  another A24 that a lot of women like to show their idiot boyfriends as a  warning. Presented by our resident Gen-Xer, award-winning filmmaker and  sometime director of Sesame Street (yes, you read that right) Rob Graydon. ******* TECHNICAL NOTE: Since we're still learning, we botched the actual recording of the audio, so we used the sound from the two cameras we shot the video version of the show with. We sound fine, but it's a little "room-toney". In this episode: we talk about the different ways to pronounce "VVitch", how this film is the complete antithesis of last week's The Blood on Satan's Claw, how many goats must have auditioned for the role of Black Phillip, how much Joe sadly identifies with the dumbass father character, and wonder what was so scary about a family that the friggin' Puritans chased them out for being too orthodox.
