In episode #2 of the Mindful Life Podcast I present an exert from my Introduction to Mindfulness Course. I discuss some key Mindfulness concepts, what it is, some examples of mindful activities and exercises, where it originated, and how it can help us. I also unpack the essential components of Mindfulness from a Buddhist perspective along with some of the barriers and obstacles that we all need to work on to lead our best mindful life. I explore gratitude, kindness and compassion, non judgment, the ego, attachment, resistance vs acceptance, suffering, impermanence and of course letting go. Having an understanding of the essential components of Mindfulness and some of the barriers to living a mindful life can help us to develop insight and to make the unconscious conscious. Once we develop awareness this may assist us to understand not only our own ways of thinking and being but it can also help us understand the motivations and behaviours of others.  If for any reason, you have found the content of todays podcast triggering or distressing in any way please consider accessing some professional support (Aust only);  Telephone Counselling support  *Beyond Blue 1300 22 4636  *Lifeline 131114  You can find The Mindful Life Podcast on Facebook and Instagram under the handle Mindful Life Podcast. Mindful Gaming Dr. Jeffrey Swift Gaming can be one of the very worst activities for a person to do, or it can be one of the best. When a person plays video games intentionally, or mindfully, they can strengthen mental health, provide physical exercise, and build relationships and communities. Without that mindfulness, however, video games can suck the life out of grades, drive parents and children apart, and become a source of toxicity and stress in a young person’s life. The Mindful Gaming podcast aims to help gamers thoughtfully and intentionally engage with video games.
