Episode 2: What's Trauma Got to Do with It?
from Trauma Survivors Unite: Christian Emotional Recovery · host Rachel Leroy
Episode Description:What's Trauma Got to Do with It? demystifies how trauma may explain why you struggle the way you do and why you are the way you are. It further explains why the symptoms of trauma aren't truly YOU, why there is nothing wrong with YOU, and why trauma isn't your fault. If you've experienced childhood trauma, childhood emotional abuse, or childhood emotional neglect, then chances are, you're living a daily trauma cycle that impacts and pervades every part of your life, perhaps in ways you're not even aware. While no one should wish trauma on anyone, the pain of trauma, especially when we're mistreated by others, teaches us to have compassion on others, to treat others well, and how we never want to make others feel based on how we've felt. We also learn to have compassion for ourselves by seeing this contrast. We can also start to find modalities that help us heal, based our unique makeup and experience. This episode addresses these issues, introduces you to the concept of trauma, and provides suggestions to help you get started or continue on your healing journey.
