Episode 20: A Storm On The Horizon By Reilly Walker

Welcome to another episode of Story Time. Today, I have shared a poem by Reilly Walker. The poem has been described by the writer as a call to action. It was inspired by the public funeral service for the late Kitsumkalum Chief Don Roberts in 2024. Don was dedicated to the Kitsumkalum Band throughout his years, having even continued to work while hospitalised with cancer. One of the final parts of Don's funeral service was the Fisherman's Last Call, a mock radio conversation depicting a fisherman sailing into a storm, performed as an homage to Don's past as a fisher; Don's dedication to Kitsumkalum inspired the poem's message, while the Fisherman's Last Call inspired its imagery.The writer, Reilly Walker, is an accounting clerk from the North Coast of British Columbia, Canada.
