The Fight Against Big Tobacco: Dave Goerlitz was a featured print model for Winston cigarettes from 1981 to 1988, and appeared in more locales than the Marlboro Man himself. On location one day, a Big Tobacco executive uttered some shocking truths about who cigarette manufacturers target. Goerlitz quit repping Winston at the height of his success to become one of, if not the most important anti-tobacco crusader in history, sharing very uncomfortable truths with literally millions of people, in particular vast numbers of kids. His work for public health groups put him front and center during the tobacco wars which culminated in a the famous tobacco company settlement shared across United States to the tune of hundreds of billions of dollars.
