Episode 203 - Why So Cirio?
from Flickers from the Cave · host Mike, Marty and Julie
It seems like we just can't get enough of the films of director Cirio Santiago! We look at two from him that are VERY similar...maybe a little TOO similar when you get right down to it! We start off with "Wheels of Fire" from 1985 which stars Gary Watkins as a Mad-Max-Alike named Trace who is driving around a post apocalyptic wasteland trying to save his sister from an evil cabal known as "The Ownership". It has lots of explosions and action but a very murky plot but is totally fun in a disposable way. We follow that with 1987's "Equalizer 2000" which stars martial artist Richard Norton as Slade, who's driving around a post-apocalyptic wasteland trying to help a rag-tag team of freedom fighters known as "The Ownership". Do you notice any similarities there? This movie also features the titular gun, the equalizer 2000 which is goofy in the most awesome way imaginable. We enjoyed both but there is no way to defend these as high-art. We then proceed to list the various things we've been watching for fun.Send us your thoughts on the show and recommendations for future episodes to [email protected] or [email protected].
