Episode 206 | Nonverbal Learning Disorder
from Psych Talk · host Dr. Jessica Rabon
In today's episode of Psych Talk I discuss nonverbal learning disorder (NVLD). NVLD has made headlines recently after Gus Walz, son of Democratic VP Nominee Tim Walz, showed a lot of emotional expression and pride for his father at the DNC and it came out that Gus struggles with multiple disabilities, including NVLD. In this episode I discuss what NVLD is, the main areas of deficit of individuals with NVLD, as well as their strengths. I discuss how NVLD may present, common comorbidities, and spend time discussing the similarities and differences between NVLD and Autism. I end the episode by discussing how individuals with NVLD can be supported in school and work settings, as well as therapeutic interventions that are beneficial.
