Joy can sometimes feel fragile.A pleasant conversation can brighten our day.An unexpected phone call can change it.Good news lifts our spirits.Disappointment can weigh heavily upon our hearts.If our joy depends only on what happens around us, it will rise and fall with every circumstance.Paul knew that better than most.He wrote these words while imprisoned.His freedom had been taken away.His future remained uncertain.Yet from that prison cell comes one of the most joyful commands in all of Scripture.Not simply to rejoice.But to rejoice in the Lord.That small phrase makes all the difference.
