Episode 209 - Scout Cartagena

from Crafting a Revolution · host Katie Freeman

Scout is a multidisciplinary artist, practicing crafts such as printmaking, glass, and audio and video work. She draws from mental health and her personal narrative as a queer black woman to create a strong thread of representation in larger compositions and forms of installation. Her work reflects on family, memory, mental health and chronic illness. In her early 20's she was diagnosed with a rare auto-immune disorder. With each year, she loses parts of her memory and mobility, all increasing the urgency to create work that is tangible. You can follow Scout's work on Instagram and her Website.
