This is a complicated chapter with some killer lines! Moral of the story being to pick your friends wisely. There’s a sense in this of ‘show me your friends and I’ll show you your future’. The bible teaches us that we have a responsibility towards one another (Colossians 1:28 NIV He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ.), so how do we become aware of each others strengths and weaknesses and step into proactively supporting one another? It’s not about telling each other what we want to hear (as the 400 prophets in this story were prone to do), but instead about drawing one another closer to God in order that we can each choose to hear Him AND then obey what He is saying… This podcast is part of a series on the books of Kings which is supported by periodic ‘reflections’, which consider questions which have been submitted by members of LifeLine Church.
