Episode 21: Food Bank Info plus your reminder to shop local this holiday season!

Send us Fan MailWhen our community pantry box gets wiped out in a day, there is a major need for food in our community. If you're in need, we discuss resources. If you're able to give, these are great organizations to support to ensure the food gets to where it needs to go. From our community Facebook Group admins, Spencer County Community Group. Thank you for putting this together for our community ladies! Updated Food Resource Info:There’s never a reason to go hungry in Spencer County. If your family needs assistance, please reach out to one of these programs:1. Free and Reduced Lunch Program for Students. Apply through your child’s school. 2. Backpack Buddies: Sends food home with students each week. Apply through school or Family Resource Center, Lindsay Cain 477-0199. 3. Have a Need, Fill A Need Boxes: Leave whatever you can, take only what you need. A. Main St: White box in front of the Fix-It Shop.B. Spencer Christian Church parking lot (I haven’t seen this one personally, but I’ve been told there’s one there.)C. Ray Road: (road that goes to Ray Jewell Park) in front of the apartments. D. Briar Ridge Christian Church, 3951 Briar Ridge Rd. Also, has a food pantry for anyone who needs assistance. 502-738-5225E. Little Mount Baptist Church, 6129 Little Mount Rd., has a food box in their gravel parking lot  4. First Baptist Church, 115 W Main St., Dare to Care Food boxes, Last Thursday every month at 1-4 pm.  Residents of Spencer County only. Call for more info.  477-8197.  November 20 and Dec 18 will be the next two pick-up dates. 5. Multi-Purpose Community Action in conjunction with Dare to Care and local donations: Monday thru Friday 9 am - 4 pm, 44 Creekside Side. Call 477-8296 for more information. Multi-Purpose also offers help with electricity and in some cases rent, water and additional food.  6. Taylorsville Community Church: Food Box pick-up Nov 7, 14 and 21 4 -7 PM, 277 Taylorsville Rd. 477-29857. Grace Chapel, 60 Ray Rd., Food Box every Friday. Distribution starts about 10:30.
