Join my conversation with Groundbreaking Radio Personality Diane Blackmon. She was the first African-American female Engineer/On-Air personality west of the Rockies at KDIA Radio in the San Francisco Bay Area. We also discuss her long career in radio, business, film making and philanthropy. A Northern Californian native, Blackmon has studied at Solano College, Harvard, UCLA and Dartmouth University. She is a devoted community activist and philanthropist sponsoring the “RadioScope” Celebrity Christmas Caravan (13years) annual “Summer Fresh” concert (10+ years) and the Anti Drug & Gang Rally for Los Angeles youth. She sits on the Board of Directors for the Watts/Willowbrook Boys & Girls Club and is currently devoting most of her time. Diane Blackmon’s radio career began in 1973 at KDIA-AM in Oakland, California as the first black engineer an on-air Announcer/Engineer in the country. With stints at KSOL-FM in San Francisco, CBS Philadelphia and NBC, San Francisco. In 1990, she founded D. Blackmon Broadcasting, Inc. and Entertainment Marketing West, which develops and executes national and local promotions and marketing campaigns for major corporations, movies, records and special events. One of the only Black Female CEO’s of a major syndication radio company. In 1990, she founded D.
