from Holding the Ladder in Sport and Leadership · host Tim Rice
Maeve Coleman's name is synonymous with basketball in Ireland. She has over three decades of experience having started coaching at the age of 19 when she was a member of Marian Basketball Club in Dublin, Ireland. She has since gone on to coach boys and girls, men and women at national and international level including U15 Women, U16 Women, U20 Women, and the Irish Senior Women’s team all at European Championships. She started coaching in the Irish Super League in 1999, two months after she had her second son. She spent three years with Tolka Rovers where they won leagues and the Federation Cup before moving to Killester Basketball Club where she stayed for three years and again won the Cup and league during what was a very successful tenure. Dublin’s loss was Drogheda’s gain when a few years after moving to the Boyneside in 2001, she became involved in Bullets Basketball Club and entered their first boys in the Dublin league in 2005. Her own sons have played and coached in the club. She is now the Director of Coaching for Drogheda Wolves Basketball Club, where she oversees 40 coaches with their 18 teams. She can be reached at [email protected].
