Episode 21 (The Shining): Spooky Christmas!

***Trigger Warnings: Intimate partner and child abuse, substance abuse, racial and homophobic slurs*** In this week's episode, Maribeth and Paige get in the Halloween spirit by discussing the horror classic The Shining by Stephen King and the Stanley Kubrick film by the same name . In a first for the show, Maribeth takes the lead on this book - which follows the Torrance family's winter as caretakers of the secluded Overlook Hotel in the Colorado mountains. What follows is a battle for the Torrance's gifted young son - Danny. Throughout the show, Paige and Maribeth discuss differences between the book and the movie, as well as some of their own opinions about Hollywood film classics. It should be noted that this episode covers some very heavy topics such as intergenerational trauma, child abuse, and alcoholism.
