Episode 219: Friendship Part 2 - Healthy Vs. Unhealthy, Myths and More with Connie Armerding

from Living Wholehearted Podcast With Jeff and Terra · host Terra & Jeff Mattson - Living Wholehearted

Today we are continuing our conversation around friendship with an emphasis on boundaries, unhealthy friendships, and where counseling and coaching come in throughout the seasons of life. Every healthy leader has good friends. Our personal friendships help us sustain our integrity over the long-haul of life, so, it's worth spending two full episodes to unpack the healthy and unhealthy elements of friendship. Terra Mattson, co-host of the podcast and co-founder of Living Wholehearted, has a candid conversation with one of the Living Wholehearted Executive Coaches, Connie Armerding, about friendship; what it is and what it is not. Connie and Tera were friends before working together at Living Wholehearted, and they have genuine insights to offer about the myths that run interference, particularly with female leaders, and how we can move toward building healthy friendships.    Terra Mattson is co-founder of Living Wholehearted, a professional counseling, executive coaching, and organizational development firm outside Portland, Oregon, helping leaders live and lead with integrity. She is also the founder and executive director of the non-profit Courageous Girls.  She is co-author of Shrinking the Integrity Gap: Between What Leaders Preach and Live, and Courageous: Being Daughters Rooted in Grace, where she talks extensively about friendship (learn more at livingwholehearted.com  mycourageousgirls.com). Follow her on IG @terramattson    Connie Armerding is an Executive Coach & Leadership Consultant, Writer, Speaker, and Teacher. She is passionate about equipping ministry and marketplace leaders by creating spiritually and emotionally healthy cultures among leaders and their communities. Connie holds degrees from Wheaton College in Interpersonal Communication and a MA in Leadership. She’s been published with Propel Women, Patheos, and the Redbud Post. She is a contributing writer of Friendzy and is currently working on a project with Nav Press as a contributor to Reflecting God's Nature, the Women's Devotional Bible based on The Message. Connie also leads conflict resolution training for organizational teams and teaches and preaches at churches and conferences across the Pacific Northwest.
