Episode 22 : Robin Thatcher - Bitcoin Accountant

In this episode, I sit down with Robin Thatcher to explore his unique journey into the world of finance, accountancy, and...dare I say it... cryptocurrency. We start by looking back at Robin’s early memories and attitudes toward money, and how key influences and role models helped shape his financial mindset. Robin shares how he made the transition 'crypto' accountancy - with a particular focus on Bitcoin - and offers insights into how the landscape of accountancy is shifting to accommodate this new asset class. He also shares his views on current and future HMRC treatment. The conversation turns toward the potential role of Bitcoin in addressing economic crises, concerns about the future of state pensions, and the risks posed by government intervention. We explore the barriers to wider Bitcoin adoption, the uncertain future of SIPPs and taxation, and finish by evaluating Bitcoin treasuries and discussing the future of the UK Bitcoin community.
