It's that time of the year again: the end of another award season that culminates with the 94th Academy Awards. I'm joined by my good friend Duarte Mendonça to review the movies that made 2021, evaluate the nominees, including surprises and snubs, across 8 major categories in one of the quietest Oscar races in years. We also discussed the relevance and importance of the Oscars in a landscape that continues to shift towards both international movies and with an increased focus on global film festivals such as Venice and Cannes and the role of the superhero blockbuster in the post-Covid big screen recovery.
