Episode 22: Whose monster?
from The Sgili Queens Podcast Hosted by Osh & Sheyahshe
This week on Sgili Queens, we dive into the mysterious waters of Okanagan Lake in British Columbia to explore the legend of Ogopogo, Canada’s famous lake monster. But this episode isn’t just about a spooky cryptid sighting, we unpack the Indigenous roots of the story, how colonial narratives have reshaped it, and the ongoing whitewashing of this legend. From ancient oral traditions to pop culture twists, we ask: who really owns the story of Ogopogo, and what does it say about how legends are claimed, renamed, and retold?
