There is nothing we can say about our love of Evil Dead that has not already been said by Deadites around the world. So, it was a no brainer that we were gonna give Evil Dead Rise the Special Edition treatment. This is one of our most anticipated movies of the year and we could not wait to talk about it.No matter your personal opinion of the movies, there is little arguing that Evil Dead is one of the most consistent horror franchises out there. Through sequels, remakes, and television series, it always delivers a strong product. We had little worries that we were in for a good movie, but that does not mean we did not have some trepidation going in.One of the things Evil Dead is known for its wacky humor. The latest installment is closer to the 1981 original than the rest of the series. While it has some moments of humor, this is a mean horror movies. We talk about how well this tonal change worked. We also compare it to the subject of last week's special edition. Renfield catered to horror fans, while Evil Dead Rise invited in mainstream audiences while having some fan service. Long ago, we told ourselves we would never do more than one Special Edition a month. Not only are we doing two in April, we are having them in consecutive weeks.
