Episode 225 - Sing Street

from In The Queue - Film Conversations with Andrew and Phil · host Andrew and Phil

It is Dublin, 1985.  Connor loves pop music. He has just started school in the lower class religious academy, Synge Street.  He just doesn't seem to fit in.  One day, after being bullied, he makes friends with another outcast who loves the same music he does.  Then he meets an older girl and falls head over heels.  Seems this girl is seeking to be a model in a music video.  Connor decides then and there he will start a rock band.  John Carney's follow up to 'Begin Again' is a charming, Weinstein Company-packaged comedic drama.  Andrew got caught up in it's energy, Phil, less so, but both agree it has a lot to offer in this summer of blockbusters.
