Episode 23: A Slip And Not a Fall

from The American Civil War Podcast · host Patrick Bryant

Before Kansas-Nebraska, Abraham Lincoln was a political nobody. Afterwards, he found his career and influence accelerating along with the fast-growing Republican party. Within two years, he went from a former Representative years past his political career, to aiming squarely at the mighty throne of Stephen Douglas himself.By way of a correction which I discovered too late, at 17:35 I inadvertently said that Lincoln laid out candidates for each state. This is obviously wrong. He set up candidates for each state “seat”. I apologize for the error. This is a public episode.
