Episode 23- John Chapter 5

Diving in the Word today, we get in to John Chapter 5. Jesus visits the Pool of Bethesda, where sick people have been laying around waiting for the waters of the pool to heal them. Jesus heals a man that has been unable to walk for 38 years. Before doing so he asks the man "Do you want to get well?" We discuss this miracle and the fact that Pharisee's didn't even care about it because they only cared that Jesus broke the rules and healed on the Sabbath. This is where we see Jesus show us that He is equal to God. Knowing scripture doesn't equal knowing God and the Pharisees had spiritual blindness. John 5 reminds us that it's possible to be close to truth, study truth, and still miss the person of Jesus- and that true life is found not in religion, but in relationship with Him.
