She's got a lot of love. Ahh. Here we go. All the whales.

Of course we'll know who it's time to raise our sails. It's freedom. Mhmm. Hey guys.

We're just off and running on this new episode. The Super Mario Odyssey. Yes indeed. We're on a super ladies' odyssey.

Yeah super tea ladies. Just odyssey. Oh, God. Yes.

Hello, everybody. Two ladies, come with Jess. That's us. That's how you say for us in the 19th store.

Present. Ready to learn. Yes. This is a Just2Ladies podcast.

Yes, it is. Which of girls? Caroline and Courtney and Courtney and Courtney and Carol. Two girls.

We got two girls. We before we started recording, I was showing Courtney all the amazing music from every Mario game. Yeah. And if you haven't heard it, you better go listen right now.

It's pretty amazing. I highly recommend the Dolphin Sholes music from Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. And also, jump up Superstar, which is as we all know. The Magnum Opus from Super Mario Odyssey.

Ooh. This fall. Yeah, man. Wow.

So that's just a great way to set the mood. Start your day like that. Honestly, we could. I'm going to do it every day this week.

Really? Thank you. That's awesome. I'm just going to play a different song from Mario game.

Yeah. To wake up. That's excellent. Thank you.

It's a great player. Thank you for the recommendation. Yeah. Yeah.

It can be like the Mario challenge. That's cute. That's way better than Tide Pods. Way better than Tide Pods.

Just listen to a song from Mario to start your day every day this week. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

Oh no. That's how we're doing. Just a wholesome way to start the week. Scaffled your way to a better day.

Yeah. There's a little callback. How the hell are you doing? Me?

Yeah. I'm good. How the hell are you doing? I'm good.

Yeah. I'm so tired. Yes. But I'm so good.

Yeah. Mm-hmm. That sounds about right. It's a Sunday.

Quite Sunday. It is a quiet. Sunday. Quiet.

Sunday. Quiet. It's a good. I used to do it.

I used to play drums really bad. And it's because of that song. Mm-hmm. It's a good.

That's all it is. It's just a quiet Sunday. Yeah. Sunday.

Quiet Sunday. Yeah. What have you been up to? How was your week?

The week was? Okay. It had its ups and downs. But this weekend has been lovely.

Excellent. Had a lovely weekend so far. And yeah. That's perfect.

So that's all. What about you? How was your week? Oh.

It. Oh well. Like it was a week for sure. Yeah.

Yeah. Last night was so fun. I went to the ball. The ball.

We're just going to call it the ball. And I tried to be a fellow ball. You were. I can leave you were.

Wow. Thank you so much. I don't know. I just, I needed to dance.

Yeah. And thank God. Oh, I did that. You did.

It was a fun little group. We owned to the dance floor. And now I feel great about my life. Yes.

That's where I'm at. Yeah, dude. Yep. You know.

You know. You know. You know. You know.

You know. I didn't even think of it. About that, but it makes so much sense. Yeah.

Yeah. Because Valentine's day is in a couple I forget that that's a thing sometimes. Me too. Pretty anti-magic.

That feels like what getting older is forgetting that Valentine's Day is real. Okay, so here's a question. When you were a kid, Valentine's Day was coming, what was the feeling? What age?

It depends. Let's do a couple. Okay, first grade? Okay.

Sixth grade. And then freshman year high school. Yeah. Okay, so first grade was exciting.

It was like you got to order the cool Valentine's cards and candy and stuff for your class. In one of my elementary school classes, we had to build mailboxes. We had to build boxes or receptacles for Valentine's so everybody could go around and put a Valentine's Everybody's Box. And my box is super cool.

Oh, I believe that. And that was my favorite. What did it look like? It was like a contraption where I just remember I had a string and you could lift it with a string, it was like a pulley system where you could lift the lid.

It was pretty neat. Yeah, it was like a full contraption. Sixth grade? I don't remember.

It was probably a big deal. But I don't remember. But not big enough deal. I think I was just nervous all the time in sixth grade.

Yeah, I remember getting a stuffed animal. You know what? That is like a vivid memory. In middle school, I got a stuffed animal, like a tiny little teddy bear from a boy.

Really? And it smelled like baby powder. It smelled so good. Was this your B.F.?

I was an eight-year-old. I was an eight-year-old. Oh, wow. Yeah, I think, okay.

I feel like, okay. In eighth grade, I had a group of friends that were all boys and I dated all of them in a very short span of time. That's like a sitcom. Yeah.

That's like a little boys. Courtney and the boys. Courtney is here. And so are the boys.

That's really cute. Yeah, but one of them gave me this tiny little teddy bear. And it was adorable. And it smelled so good.

Why did it mean to spell like baby powder? Was it just from Hallmark? I don't know. I never had another stuffed animal that smelled so good before.

God. But it was lovely. She used to step his game up. I know, honestly, right?

Wow. Yeah. And then high school, like freshman year of high school. I don't remember.

Yeah. I think I blocked it out. Yep. I don't think I was seeing anybody.

Oh, was there like a dance? Really? I think there was a dance at like the Emerson Valentine's dance that I was too afraid to go to. Or maybe I did go and stay.

It was, anyways, uneventful for me. Okay. Yeah. What about you?

First grade. I forget how fucking cool those paper, like those cardboard cards are. Yeah. And you just got one for everybody in your class.

Yeah. I remember, it's like I overthought I think the common thread we're going to find in my Valentine's experience is overthinking, trying too hard. I believe that. So if I had a crush on someone, I would like get my little, you know, peanuts, Valentine's cards, which is the most romantic.

The most romantic Valentine kid card is the peanuts. Absolutely it is. Well, like I would be like, because they give you six different varieties, like Rydepack or whatever, 30. Yep.

And I think there was one year, oh no, I always had Harry Potter. He was always a Harry Potter card. And like the outside is purple and has stars on it's like two blank from blank. And then you attach a little piece of candy.

A little while ago I popped for something. And so I don't know. I would try to pick out a cool one for who I had a crush on. That was subtle enough.

But I don't know. It was like kind of fun. That is really fun. I made, we did the mailbox thing too, and I made a sarcophagus.

I printed out, we went to Kinko's. My grandma and I, she got so into it. She's so sweet. It was such a great thing.

My grandma just loved helping us on our projects. That's so cool. Okay, this is a tiny tangent. We were making an explorer project for fifth grade.

And we, my parents read a town. I was staying the night there, and I was so stressed out about making my trifold board. And she was like, it's okay, we can make it fun. I was like, how?

She's like, we'll make it pretty. Our focus is going to be making it pretty. I was like, okay, okay, yeah, we'll just focus on making it look nice. So we spent the whole day making it, and it looked good.

She's like, okay, what do we learn? And I was like cutting edges without corners makes things look pretty. She's like, that's right. That's such a good lesson.

That's like a good design lesson. She loves aesthetics. That's where you get from. Yeah, I think.

Well, thanks, Nana. I hope you're listening. We made a sarcophagus, and we went to Kinko's to print out a picture of a sarcophagus on a shoebox, covered it in gold fabric. It was so cool.

That's awesome. A fucking coffin for my mailbox. So, for you to love, put all that love in the sarcophagus, seal it up. That's a conny-wist layer, kind of.

But I won't say what it is. It's a little gross. Okay, sure. We'll get to take a second.

It's a little gross. That was the biggest laugh I've ever heard. It was a really big laugh. Josh just laughed really hard.

But not at this. So that's a bummer. Okay, sixth grade. I got too nervous.

I was like, I want this boy to be my boyfriend. Oh my God. I want him to be my boyfriend. Oh, and I overthought it.

Just want this boy to be my boyfriend. Just want this boy to be my boyfriend. Just want this boy to be my boyfriend. Where we going?

So I overthought it and I would wear red because I thought that it's Valentine's Day. The color of love is the color of love. If I wear this shirt, he will want it to be my boyfriend. Because he must care about colors.

Like I do. No, of course he didn't. Those dumb boys. You have it in eighth grade?

I had this card written for me by my B.F. at the time. Ooh. It was inclusive because it's the sex-ship of love.

That's true. That's real. That's real. I'll tell you.

I can remember some of the stanzas. It said, I was thirsty. So I drank water. I was hungry.

So I ate food. I was tired. So I went to sleep. I was lonely.

Oh. Oh. 14 years old. Oh boy.

And then my mom found it. She's like, are you fucking kidding me? She didn't say fuck. Right.

That was not the time when she swore to me. But I remember getting that being stressed out and being like, oh my god, I have to keep dating him. Oh no. And he gave me a tiny bit too.

Oh no. And everybody in middle school told me we're going to get married and I was like, please no. All right. It's too early for that.

Thank you. In high school freshman year, I got overly sad about it because I thought that people will be like over the top in love. Right. But little did I know teenagers are stupid and they don't know what to do.

Yes. So I went to high school. I was like, oh my god. I'm so sad.

Oh my god. And everybody was just like, huh, let's go to Little Caesars for lunch. Yeah. Every Valentine's Day.

Oh my god. That's too real. Yep. That's a visceral memory.

I just had a very visceral memory of going to Little Caesars for lunch with a guy I dated for five days in my freshman year of high school. Really? And I held his hand and then he broke up with me because I wouldn't kiss him and he told me I was a prude. What?

That's bullshit. Isn't that funny? More of the story. Don't do that.

I hadn't had my first kiss yet. That's scary. And yeah, he was like, you're a prude. Bye.

Fuck him. But we went to Little Caesars for lunch. That's so funny. Wow.

You have to walk all the way across that parking lot. Yeah. Oh my god. That's hilarious.

That's the best. I'm so glad you mentioned that. Memories. I also remember in high school.

I don't think it was for my freshman year. I think it was maybe my sophomore year. You know those, um, you know, those like shitty little meme things like the meme Valentine's or like rectangular and they have like a shitty picture and comic sans font on them and they just have no funny. Yeah.

I just printed off a ton of those and gave them to all my friends. And like, left them all over the school. Wait, was that you? Oh my god.

Yeah, that was me. Wait, which, which franchises did you print them out of? Oh, the ones, all the ones. Like, did you do a breaking bad one by chance?

Probably. Cause I found one of those. I was like, this is so fun. I think I like left them all over the hallways.

You did? Yeah. I remember seeing those and I was walking down the hall with my friend Hannah. Uh huh.

Like, these are great. We wanted to take all of them, but we didn't. Uh huh. I think that was me.

I can't believe I just remembered that I did that. Oh my god. Yeah. We were friends at the time.

No, it was before then. It was really fun. That was fun. That was way more fun than having a boyfriend.

Truly. Lexi printed out the same thing of the most popular girls in school. Series. That's awesome.

They were great listeners. I highly recommend most popular girls in school. It's not much in Barbies with boys voicing them, but not changing their voices. Yeah.

Just being like, Deandra, where were you at? She's here practicing so funny. Oh my god. It's pretty good.

It's pretty good. I can't believe you did that. Yeah. She did that.

Yeah. Yeah. Courtney. What did she do?

That. She did that. I could never have remembered unless we talked about it right here. Amazing.

Just Dilly's podcast, Tune in Heck and Boys. We're doing it. Yeah. We're doing it.

Guess who else is doing it? Who's doing it? None other than your mom. Yeah.

My mom. Okay. I just realized that if you kind of just say your mom, it sounds like a stupid joke, but that's not what I'm doing. We were actually talking about my real mom.

Yeah. Your mom. That's such a stupid joke. Your mom's a stupid joke.

Your mom's a stupid joke. You know? Yeah. Stupid.

That's not where I'm going. Your mom. I'm going to go to the Wednesday and we usually talk about the podcast, the previous week's podcast, and she was so cute and she was like, well, no, after listening to the podcast, I'm all interested in Kanye West. And she really wanted to learn about Kanye and she was really sweet.

She was like, now I've got kind of one of listening to his music. I think there's probably some that I would never really like, but I'm just going to Google Kanye West for moms so she can find some songs that she might be interested in listening to. That's the sweetest thing I've ever heard in my life. Yeah.

Stuff that's not too hard. Not too hard. Not too hard for moms. I have compiled a list.

I'm not here for moms. And parenthetically, Kanye for Amy. Oh. Okay.

We're going to do, it's just eight. Yes. Stipping the feet in the water. Yeah.

Just a little. And of course the first song I have for you is called Hey Mama. It's off of late registration. Oh.

It is the quintessential mom yay song. Mom yay. I was two of the day and cried. It is the sweetest.

Very sweet. Testament to his mom. Before she died. Yeah.

Hey, Mama is a great starter. Yeah. Yeah. For real me cry because in that one verse he talks about like buying her a mansion and her never having to work again.

And I was like, oh, that's so sweet that he's and then I remembered that she passed away. And I got so sad. Yeah. And the way he says it, dude, I went out there.

Oh my God. I'm bark no more. Yeah. From your heart.

Yep. Makes me cry. Just loves his mom. And then also there's All Falls Down off of the college dropout, which is a song about his insecurities.

Oh, buddy. And his best lyric from that song is couldn't afford a car. So she named her daughter Alexis. That's a funny joke on you.

It's a really good one. That's pretty funny. That's like dad level. Yeah.

Alexis. Which is a wonderful cover of that spiritual and you'll really appreciate his singing because he sings really well on it. That's lovely. We also have family business off of the college dropout, which I think I briefly mentioned on the last podcast.

That song will never not make me cry. I don't even care where I am. Speaking of not crying. I mean, speaking of crying.

Of crying. Street lights is my favorite Kanye West song of all time. Big cry. I mean, like that just is cemented as my favorite, especially because I have a tattoo of it.

Yes. But it's gorgeous and it makes me feel like a baby because it's the background. Yes. Oh, 100%.

We also have ultralight beams. Yep. My faith. I hate him.

But ultralight beams. Right. It's beautiful. I hate him.

Okay. Come on, you guys. Just keep blessing ultralight beam and think how could a horrible person ever make such a beautiful song? He had that song in his heart.

It means something about man. He totally does. I remember the first time I heard the choir because I was watching him debut an album live at Madison Square Garden with his fashion. Yeah.

And they pulled the sheet covering all the models and they pulled it back and went, wait, wait. Oh, this is a new era. This is Kanye West. Oh my God.

That is a beautiful song. And chances are, it makes me cry every time I listen to it. I would say I think that song made Chancellor Robert a star. Oh, absolutely.

Like a household name. That's when he first people became to be like, oh, that's a guy. Yeah. Because he was known for a while.

But then it's like, Chancellor Robert. Yeah. Two more. Only one makes me look like a child because it's about, it's kind of like, I would say the spiritual success or two.

Hey, mama, because it's like, all right, I've accepted that you're gone. It makes me sad to this day. And basically he's like singing from the point of Dona West about his child north. Oh.

It's the sweetest thing in the entire world trying not to get. Emotional. Yeah. Okay.

And then the last one was four or five seconds because it's with Paul McCartney and it's just a good, like, it's a solid song. Oh, yeah. And Kanye West. Well, got the nup to miss.

Yes. Yes. Kanye. Yes, sir.

Tell us. That's why Kanye lists for moms. Okay. And probably a good starter kit for anybody who's thinking about getting into him.

Okay. Hey, if you're thinking about Kanye, try these. Try these songs. Just try them on for size.

Yeah. That's excellent. Amy, let me know what you think. Yeah.

You could be as honest as you want. I did not care for that. Okay. That's fine.

Yeah. Yeah, man. That's great. Thank you for doing that.

Oh, it was, it was, it was an honor. It was seriously when you told me that it just made my entire week. Yeah. I can't even believe that.

Yeah. It's pretty exciting. I love Kanye West. Yeah.

Yeah. You had a topic. Yeah. I wanted to ask you a question.

Okay. I was watching it. A movie. Last night.

Yeah. And it made me think about a question. I wanted to ask you, which is this? In movies and television, if it were up to you, what is a trope or a catchphrase or just like a general thing that you would remove, like every movie or television show from this point on could not use that trope anymore.

That's such a good question. What would it be? Holy shit. I love you.

Um, well, I'm really not a fan of you. You're going to want to see this. Okay. That's a great one.

You're going to want to see this. I think you're going to want to see this. And then they walk into the room and it's all a mess. Something like that.

Of course. Of course it is. A clover clover clover. I love you guys.

Let's see. Yeah. Definitely you're going to want to see this. I hate that.

I don't like when people write, you went clearly a white person is writing for a black character and they're going to get in my man. That's bullshit. Yeah. Yeah.

My man. I love how I like to make some of that. It's great. It's perfect.

It's like the best. My man. I was just thinking of one that I hated. And they were talking about it on the Valley cast.

Oh, really? Yeah. This is another podcast. It's called The Valley cast.

Check it out. What about you? Like do you have any? Yeah.

So the one that brought it up for me was it actually a movie. I was listening to it. I hate any variation of the God is dead. We killed him.

Okay. Stop it. On that show. It was like God is dead.

And we replaced him. Like, okay, yeah, fuck it. Shut up. We got it.

It's the future. Whatever. And then the movie, so we were watching the Cloverfield Paradox last night in the new Cloverfield film. And it was a fine movie, but it was, it takes place on a spaceship in space.

I'm sick of the tilted space corridor. You know that shot where they're like walking down a long corner. That's all like neon lights. And it's like a 30 degree tilt.

And I'm like, okay, why? We get it. We are not on earth. That.

Yeah. Also, just in general, I'm really not a fan of the ... There's a lot of space horror movies that's like, here's a crew, and we're going to pick them off one by one. Yeah.

I'm sick of it. I'm sick of that. I don't ever want to see another movie like that ever again. Which is exactly what the Cloverfield Paradox was.

Which is like a little bit lame. But I liked it. More than other types of movies. I've seen like that.

Like, do you ever tell about event horizon? Maybe. It's the same concept to like here's a crew and they're headed towards like a black hole or thing and well obviously it's called event horizon it's about a black hole but it's like a demon it's like a demon thing and it takes over their ship and kills all of them one by one but it's like truly like it's really scary it's super scary there's a lot of like jump scares and dumb awful shit in the movie and that the thing I liked about the Cloverfield one is that there wasn't as much of that like it was scary in a real sense of like confusion and like they didn't know what was happening yeah but not like because it was like weird jump scares and like stupid stuff yeah it was just it felt more real which I liked so yeah and it wasn't too scary for me because I'm a little scaredy cat oh I get that but I still just not a fan of that format of like they're trapped and one by one so they're gonna die it's just like okay like whatever super predictable and super lame yeah I know over it I I don't know why this always gets me but I think I don't like when people when there's like a character referred to as master or sire yeah it's like really icky to me okay like like you know medieval science fiction way I'm just like shut up also well this was the thing I was I came from the Belicace but what they were doing in the opening were like they were playing the music yeah well that that's me oh or no okay rewind yeah so you know how teen movies start and it's like be king to glory but you in the shot with like you know full lunch tray and it dropping and everybody's like oh hi I didn't even know what's coming I didn't even know what was about to happen I was about to go home I meet my new best friend and then get home or something is a dog I bet you're wondering how I got in this situation I make a wondering how I got here. I hate that.

There's a grown my creative writing class whose story sounded exactly like that and I was like this is not, you should fix that. I don't care for it was all about like this guy who like has a family but he's basically bring bad. He sells crack on the side to like make enough money for his kids to go to college. And he's like I bet you're wondering why a guy like me is selling crack.

Don't tell me what I'm thinking. I was like yeah the time this is not good. Oh my god. And like obviously I hate when people are like well then I woke up it was all just a dream.

Yeah. That's the things you want to hate on the show. Yeah. Trops are really funny.

They are. Yeah. They are really funny. Yeah.

Also a little help when they're like battling a monster or something. Oh I just thought I'm another one. Yeah. When like someone like a scientist is talking in a really technical they're like no this technical stuff and someone goes English please.

Shut up. In English. Please. Like oh god come on.

It's over. That's done. That's canceled. Yep.

See you never. Come on you guys. Cut off that topic. Yeah.

What are yours? What are yours? What's your trope or like a catch phrase that you would remove from cinema forever? Oh I'm also really over this new thing and I just thought about this too because of the Valentine's Day cards that kids get.

Yeah. Because I was walking through Target the other day and I saw those cardboard kid cards with so many of them are like emoji themed or like shaped like a phone. Yeah. I think that's so stupid.

Oh but I definitely don't like the trope in movies where it's like you kids you wacky kids and your little pictures you send each other. Okay guys this is English class you do still need this. That's like a trope in teen movies. Yeah.

Yeah. Yeah. I don't know. That's also like a trope in real life though.

Yeah I'm over that try it out. It's getting all over me. I never cut that out. Did I tell a story on this podcast about in one of my seminars my sophomore year of college last year I mean this art professor so sweet so meaning like a pretty young dad or a dad early on into his career of being a dad.

So he was talking about going through Facebook and it was definitely like a mom meme that we've been talking about. Yeah and it was a meme of like emojis and he's like I saw this meme. I saw this meme on Facebook and it was of emojis and then side-by-side with hieroglyphics from ancient Egypt. We're going back to ancient times when my class goes no offense but that sounds like something my mom would post.

We're like yeah yeah I'm over that trope. Yeah dude. Honestly hearing anybody over the age of like 35 say the word meme makes me a little like makes me want to die like a little bit just a little bit. Just like a little bit.

I'm like oh to actually hear that word come out of people's mouths sometimes I'm like yeah I like permeate culture. Yeah I really did. It really did. It's memes.

Uh-huh. It's kind of strange. Yeah how do we get here? How do we get to these memes?

2018 memes. The year of memes. Yeah what do you mean teen? Are we before we move on to our wonderful segment?

Yeah. Is there gonna be a time where you know you and I are 40 and we're thinking about being 20-somethings. Oh yeah memes are still going strong then. Wow.

Because when we're 40 are they gonna be done or is it gonna be like cemented in time? Kind of like how when cars were invented they had to like see if they're gonna stick around and then they made roads and laws. Right. And then they made roads and laws.

Are we gonna make it roads and laws for memes? Yeah like oh well now you can't just share it. Right. I don't know.

You know what I mean? Yeah I don't know who someone who was I talking to just in the day who said that they think memes are gonna be a form of currency in the future. Holy shit. I was talking to someone about that.

And like they kind of already are like Bitcoin and Dogecoin. Right. Yeah. Yeah like yeah exactly.

But like even worse that's kind of weird. Yeah they're like no for real I think memes are gonna be currency and I'm like ha ha good joke but also kind of like oh really? You know like I don't know. Anyways I'm not sure I'm not sure what I will look like in the future because because I feel like it will just become another form of something like yeah they'll stick around maybe just not in the same but like we can't predict how because right now like the reason memes are such a big thing right now is because the internet has progressed to a point where like that's that can happen.
