Episode 23 - Steve Pereira - There is no acting when it comes to quitting alcohol, but acting saved my life

from Neff Inspiration · host Neff Inspiration

I wished that I took the hints to stop drinking i, like many, knew I was drinking way too much.  I was in hospital so many times but I just didn’t take the hint.  I just thought I’d be ok, I’ll stop next time, it didn’t kill me last time, until it nearly did. I was laying there in hospital for the 6th time, half the weight I was normally, I couldn’t even stand up on my own.  I was so sick this time that I ended up having a Cardiac arrest and had to have  open heart surgery. I lay there thinking of my 3 little Nieces, I thought about my hopes and dreams when I was little and how I never even gave mine a shot.. Then it struck me, I really wanted to be a role model to them, my dream was to act and sing and I had to get better to do that! My parents came here from India back in 1963 and settled in Leicester, my mother and father worked extremely hard to give is all the things they couldn’t have. I’m the 2nd oldest of 5 children, my oldest sister is also in the arts as a professional singer of 25 years+. I love to sing and act throughout my younger school years but I decided to do my degree in Business and Technology. Then after becoming seriously ill I decided to follow my dreams and started to write and sing songs and started acting and today I do this fun job full time and never looked back since.      Steve proves that it is never too late to follow your dreams!   Don't miss another episode.
