Episode 231: Hoes of History: Ada Lovelace

Ada Lovelace is an English mathematician and was called the First Tech Visionary by The New Yorker. She's also been called the first computer programmer for writing an algorithm for a computing machine in the mid-1800s.  Ada Lovelace, born as Augusta Ada Byron on December 10, 1815. She was born into privilege as the daughter of a famously unstable romantic poet, Lord George Gordon Byron. Her parents separated within weeks of her being born and she never had a relationship with her father. She wasn't close with her mother either. She was raised by her grandmother for the most part.  She spent much of her life ill, but was able to have three children and still study mathematics. She socialized in high fluentent circles, which provided her opportunities to contribute to scientific publications.
