In addition to meeting and working with Bentonia’s legendary Mr Skip James, David explored this area for other blues artists who played in the Bentonia Blues traditions. In 1966 he found a true diamond in the rough with Mr Jack Owens, who spent most of his life in the country outside Bentonia, Mississippi. On this podcast, Dr Evans shares a great deal about Bentonia Blues and Mr Jack Owens while entertaining us with a selection of Mr Owens field recordings David made in 1966 and 1970.
