Ben Zimmermann is a German composer, producer, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter. He's known for his You Tube channel which features original orchestral arrangements of Metallica songs like "Fade To Black," "Creeping Death, "Orion," "Frantic," and "Wasting My Hate."In this episode we chat with Ben about becoming a Metallica fan and his process for composing and arranging orchestral pieces for some of his favorite Metallica songs. We've also commissioned Ben to create new arrangements for "The Unforgiven II" and "The Shortest Straw."Other topics include Bob Rock's involvement with The Black Album boxset, lyrical content of the new Metallica record, the merits of Death Magnetic, the 25th anniversary of LOAD, a Load/Reload rotating slot for live Metallica shows and what exactly constitutes as a deep cut.
