The holiday had been marked by melancholy on Silja’s behalf, something that was also an issue at home. After increasingly paranoid behaviour, Silja stormed off and didn’t return to the campsite. Her body was found the following day, 2km from the site and partially hidden in the sand dunes that separate the Atlantic Ocean from the region’s lake. Silja had been murdered. Over 25 years on, the murder of Silja Trindler remains unsolved.
