Episode 238 - J W Browne

James Warwick Browne was born on 18 Nov 1864 at 'Kirgunyah" Station, near Yackandandah, Victoria to Wallace Browne and Emma Kilminster. He became a wealthy grazier and a processor and exporter of the giant maiden hair ferns that grew prolifically around the Woy Woy district. He exported to the botanical industry to Germany, France, Belgium, Switzerland and the USA. He built a commodious timber residence at the foot of Blackwall Mountain and named it "Patonga".
