Episode 238 - The BFG

from In The Queue - Film Conversations with Andrew and Phil · host Andrew and Phil

Steven Spielberg collaborates with Disney and all our hopes are high.  The source material is Roald Dahl and we know this is going to be good.  But the outcome is less than great.  'The BFG' is faithful to the language of the book and several aspects of the special effects are cool, but Spielberg was never an expert humorist and the technical aspects are developed more than the actual story.  A late scene that deals with the Queen of England seems like it's going to end the film, but then it keeps on going. Essentially an animated film, Andrew and Phil surmise Spielberg took on this project because it pushed the boundaries of movie technology.   You can download the podcast here by right-clicking on the hypertext link and choosing "save as", or you can use the convenient player attached to this post.
