Episode 24.5 - Terminator 2: Judgement Day Movie Special Part II
from Cutting through the Bull in the Post-Truth Apocalypse · host Cutting through the Bull
A lapsed quasi-satanist, a self-proclaimed science buff (with only a GCSE grade B in Physics) and a drug-addled lunatic attempt to navigate the irradiated wastelands and dung-hills of ignorance that is the Post-Truth Apocalypse. A smorgasbord of colourful language, drunken ramblings and the occasional "fact". Fact. Hosted by Ben, Gaz and Mike. This week the guys finish watching Terminator 2 and discuss the various weapons in the movie and the role of the T800 as a father-figure for John Connor. They raise such questions as, will a machine ever be capable of love?, would an artificial intelligence develop a moral wisdom?, if humans have a soul, would an AI have one too?, when is the technological singularity going to happen?, are we heading to a terminator arms race?, when will machines get the kill command?, and will a screaming face be the last face of humanity? Also, the advantages of an ethical AI, the representation of modernism vs post-modernism in the film, the horrors of nuclear war, trans-humanism, free will and determinism vs destiny and fate, robots say the darnedest things, the illegality of reincarnating in China without a prior government consent form, and Ben gets crowned 'king of puns' for the episode. www.facebook.com/cuttingthroughthebull [email protected] @cuttingthroughthebullpta Also on iTunes.
