Ana Ceballos (2009-14) is an investigative journalist for the Miami Herald who focuses her coverage on education and immigration.Born in the United States, Ana grew up across the border in Tijuana, then moved into an apartment in San Diego with her brother while in high school to escape the violence in her hometown. She found writing to be therapeutic when she was home alone. Her curiosity about immigration stories inspired her to major in Journalism at San Diego State and remain a large part of her reporting to this day.Ana shares how classes and the SDSU student newspaper started her Journalistic career, why she moved to Florida, what it means to work for a newspaper with the rich history of The Miami Herald, how she prioritizes stories as newsroom shrink, and what it's like covering state politics that always become national stories."Where Ya At?" is a podcast focused on the School of Journalism and Media Studies at San Diego State University.
