Episode 24 - Comedy, Craic and Cardi B with Today FM's Pamela Joyce

from Not a Single Bother · host Aislinn Dowling

On this week's episode I was blessed to be in the (virtual) presence of the hilarious Pamela Joyce from one of Ireland’s national radio stations, Today Fm. Pamela is the original Irish Mammy skit woman and it was those videos that, and not without a lot of behind the scenes graft, propelled her to where she is today with her very own evening show on Today FM. We chat about how her blogger skit videos led her to be blocked by a few of them, how she managed to cheer up the nation through Covid and her own struggles with her mental health. Pamela is such a down to earth gal and another great conversation that proves that if you don’t really know what career you want to do you will eventually find your way to something that makes you happy. She is also a lyrical genius and should be writing raps for Cardi B any time soon. If you know you know! You can listen to Pamela live on Today FM from Sunday to Thursday between 7 and 10pm. Or if you are here in Sydney, like myself, you can tune in via the Today FM app live on Monday to Friday from 4am to 7am or listen back whenever you want thanks to the app.  I hope you enjoy the episode x Instagram: @aislinndowling Facebook: @dowlingaislinn Twitter: @dowlingaislinn Website: aislinn-dowling.com

The move towards more renewables in our energy systems complicates matters even further, requiring the development of an integrated power grid and continuous and steady transformation of the UK power system. Network flows must be managed reliably under uncertain demands, uncertain supply, emerging network technologies and possible failures and, further, prices in related markets can be highly volatile. Mathematicians working with engineers and economists, can make significant contributions to address such issues, by helping to develop fit-for-purpose models for next generation energy systems. These interdisciplinary approaches are looking to address a range of associated problems, including modelling, prediction, simulation, control, market and mechanism design and optimisation.
