Episode 24: Hip vs. Earnest

from The Randy Detrick Podcast · host Randy Detrick

What would you consider more important: Hip or Earnest? Earnest comes from the core, whereas being 'hip' is all about trying to impress from the surface. An earnest person is an honest person. They act and talk according to their thoughts. With this, they often put themselves at the risk of being laughed at (that's the price of authenticity). Hip on the other hand, tend to follow the fad or what's trendy. It's extremely short-term and eventually, it has an end. Randy Paush explains it perfectly; "I'll take an earnest person over a hip person every time, because hip is short-term. Earnest is long-term." Thank you for listening!
