Episode 243: Did God Really Say that?!

2 Tim 3:16; Gen 2:15- Gen 3:16 There is something about my local church that I can not resist- Making Jesus known- in word and deed. Our mission to make Jesus known to our local communities and to the nations of the world. So, we have been on series called Re-dig the Well. Jon, one of the leaders focused on “Re-dig the well of the Word” His two focal scriptural verses were 2 Tim 3:16 Gen 2:15- Gen 3:16 As he mentioned, It is important to know the Word of God so that when the Liar whispers lies to you and I, we can tell him what the Word of God says. “Every scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for showing mistakes, for correcting, and for training character, so that the person who belongs to God can be equipped to do everything that is good.” ‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭3:16-17‬ ‭CEB‬ The Devil is very good at twisting God’s Word hence the intentionality of every child of God in knowing God and what His Word concerning our everyday situations says, accurately. Here’s an example in the Bible In Genesis‬ ‭2:15-17‬, God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it. And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”” ‭‭ In Genesis Chapter 3, Satan doing what he knows how to do best - subtlety and deceitfully whispered into Eve’s mind - “Can it really be that God has said, ‘You shall not eat from any tree of the garden’?”” ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭3:1‬ ‭AMP‬‬ Did God actually say that? Listen to Eve’s response- “But God told us, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden. You must not even touch it, or you will die.’”” ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭3:3‬ ‭ICB‬‬ Did God say “you must not even touch it?” No! The Holy Spirit shed more light to this Scripture, on my heart- so many times, we twist the Word of God with our cultural and religious mindset, even with our ideologies. The Word of God - the Truth of God’s Word is enough for us to be rooted and established in Christ not our own truth. Remember, let us redig the well of God’s Word so we can stand sure and not be tossed to and fro or exploited by the schemes of Enemy.
