Episode 244: There Is Confidence In Battle When You Know That God Is Your Captain

2 Chronicles 13:10-12 No one, nothing ever fights against God and wins the battle. No one, nothing ever fights against God’s people - who truly know God as their Father and Head, and wins the battle. So was the case of king Jeroboam who set out with his 800,000 Israelites men in a battle with God’s people in Judah. There is one exciting thing about knowing who and whose you are! That was the story of King Abijah- as he was oozing out confidence, boast- not in himself- but in God his Captain. Listen to what Abijah said - ““But for the rest of us in Judah, we’re sticking with God. We have not traded him in for the latest model—we’re keeping the tried-and-true priests of Aaron to lead us to God and the Levites to lead us in worship by sacrificing Whole-Burnt-Offerings and aromatic incense to God at the daily morning and evening prayers, setting out fresh holy bread on a clean table, and lighting the lamps on the golden Lampstand every night. We continue doing what God told us to in the way he told us to do it; but you have rid yourselves of him. “Can’t you see the obvious? God is on our side; he’s our leader (our captain). And his priests with trumpets are all ready to blow the signal to battle. O Israel—don’t fight against God, the God of your ancestors. You will not win this battle.”” ‭‭2 Chronicles‬ ‭13:10-12‬ ‭MSG‬‬ Whilst Abijah was making his boast in His God, Jeroboam’s men surrounded Abijah and his 400,000 men in the rear and in front. Humanly speaking - Jeroboam had made a smart move. Hedging in Abijah and his people in between. Right there- Abijah and his people prayed desperately to God, the priests blew their trumpets, and the soldiers of Judah shouted their battle cry. At the battle cry, God Himself routed Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah. The army of Israel scattered before Judah; God gave them the victory. Abijah and his troops slaughtered them—500,000 of Israel’s best fighters were killed that day. The army of Israel fell flat on its face—a humiliating defeat. The army of Judah won hands down because they trusted God, the God of their ancestors.” ‭‭2 Chronicles‬ ‭13:13-18 What is that battle facing you right and at the rear? Do you feel surrounded and overwhelmed with challenges? Remember who and whose you are in Christ? Remember that greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. Rest and have your boast in your Captain! He has fought your battles for you in the past. The one facing you will not be an exemption He will fight it on your behalf Arise as God’s priest and declare shouts of victory. For Victory is yours in Christ! Halleluyah!
